Steve Smith may be seeing an anger management counselor real soon...
Smith sent back to Charlotte after punching Lucas in the face at practice
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Volatile wide receiver Steve Smith punched cornerback Ken Lucas during a sideline altercation at Friday morning's practice, leaving Lucas' left eye bloodied and swollen and Smith facing a possible team-imposed suspension.
Smith, who was kicked out of practice, has been sent home to Charlotte for disciplinary reasons, coach John Fox told Carolina Growl.
Fox said Lucas is also in Charlotte receiving medical treatment. There is no update on his injury.

My picks for the upcoming season:
NFC EAST
Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants
Washington Redskins
Philadelphia Eagles
I think the Giants fall off a lot, but for some reason can't envision either the 'Skins or Eagles bumping them out of second place. Cowboys are still the best team here during the regular season.
NFC NORTH
Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Favre or not, the Packers are a pretty darn good football TEAM. Vikings on the upswing, although I have no faith in Tavares Jackson. Bears still have that defense, and the Lions still have Matt Millen
NFC SOUTH
New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Carolina Panthers
Atlanta Falcons
Saints bounce back this year with an easier schedule. Top three teams are all solid enough to take the division. Atlanta still wishes it had never traded the draft pick that became LaDanien Tomlinson.
NFC WEST
Seattle Seahawks
Arizona Cardinals
St. Louis Rams
San Fransisco 49ers
Seahawks win again in Holmgren's last season. Cardinals have enough talent to make a run. Rams are improved, 49ers remain a bit of a mess.
AFC EAST
New England Patriots
Buffalo Bills
New York Jets
Miami Dolphins
Not much has changed here. Patriots still the class of the worst division in football. Buffalo could make a run, but not enough to catch the leaders.
AFC NORTH
Pittsburgh Steelers
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns
Baltimore Ravens
No team will fall off more than the Browns. They played a bit above their heads last year, and have an absolutely brutal schedule this year (home games vs. Cowboys, Steelers, Giants, Colts). Pittsburgh is still a good team, and Bengals should be better than they have shown recently.
AFC SOUTH
Indianapolis Colts
Jacksonville Jaguars
Houston Texans
Tennessee Titans
Colts are on their way down, but haven't lost it yet. Jags will give them a run. Houston is making the right moves. I still don't know how Titans won 10 games last year.
AFC WEST
San Diego Chargers
Oakland Raiders
Denver Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs
Chargers are kings of a terrible division this year. Oakland is moving in the right direction finally, but not there yet. Only thing keeping Denver from the cellar is the fact that the Chiefs might be the worst team in the NFL.
WILD CARDS
Vikings, Bucs, Jags, Bills

Yes I have to agree

We will be the worst team in the NFL this year! We are also the youngest team in the NFL this year, with a lot of draft picks built up for next season! Hopefully this won't be a 5 year plan! I hope we go 2-14 and get the 1st pick next year!

Not sure if I agree with your choice of the Bucs coming in second in the South. Still not sure if the Saints are going to make a run this year.

Young doesn't always mean bad....
Last season, the Packers would have been the youngest team (by average) if Favre wasn't there. Instead they were second youngest. They went 13-3.
But the Chiefs young talent isn't nearly on the level that Green Bays is. Yet.

P . . . interesting pick with Pitts and Cleveland . . .
The NFC will be interesting this year but I think the AFC will be about the same.
Chargers will fall. Colts will still win 12 + as will the Patriots. Jags are overrated, IMO.
I think my sleeper will be the Titans . . . not much of a sleeper, I know.

Pack, Favre moving closer to the edge
Jay Glazer
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8414 ... e,-Packers
Brett Favre's Packers career appears exactly as it has over the last several months, at best in limbo, at worst over. After hours of meetings and few if any details emerging, it now seems less and less likely that Favre will be back on the playing field for the Packers, FOXSports.com has learned. The two sides are expected to meet again in the morning as they try to work toward a solution palatable to both sides. However, one detail FOXSports.com gathered from the meeting was Favre's insistence that he did not want his presence to destroy the team's chemistry. In fact, Favre was adamant that he wanted to do what was in the best interest of the locker room and admitted this distraction was not what his teammates needed.

If it were switched with New Orleans, I would agree. Not sure if New Orleans will make it into the playoffs.
I agree that the Vikings will get one spot, but I think the last NFC spot will be a toss up and go to the last week (sort of like how Kansas City got a playoff spot two seasons ago).

I think the biggest sleeper would be the Texans. If I remember correctly, they went 8-8 last year. I think they have a good enough talent to "steal" a Wild Card spot this year.
