He will be playing for the NY Jets in the game but they could not change the packaging in time
Did they do it to honor his "retirement"?
that was the intention. i'm wondering if this is just a way to get around the "Madden Curse"
   It'll sure s*ck for the Jets if it isn't.

Madden 2009 Brett Favre Jets Cover; Roster Updates

By Michael Luchies, published Aug 08, 2008

Cover Update
EA Sports has responded to the Brett Favre trade to the New York Jets. EA Sports the maker of NFL Madden 2009, has worked fast to give their consumers the best and most accurate product possible. Madden will be shipped out on Tuesday, August 12th. An updated cover of Brett Favre in a New York Jets jersey will be available to download, print, and replace the Packers Favre cover by August 11th on EASports.Com.

Roster Update
Brett Favre was not expected to play in 2008 and was not on any active roster in Madden 2009. Due to the trade to New York, and the assumption that Favre will start for New York, EA Sports made updates available for the game. As of August 11th you can download the new roster which features Favre as the starting QB of the New York Jets. Visit EASports.com for more information and to download these updates.

STEELERS SIGN BYRON LEFTWICH
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 10, 2008, 8:08 p.m.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the signing of free agent quarterback Byron Leftwich.

Signing a quarterback became a high priority for Pittsburgh when Charlie Batch suffered a broken collarbone in the Steelers’ preseason opener.

Yesterday we reported that the Steelers would sign both Leftwich and another free agent quarterback, Daunte Culpepper. Although Culpepper was, like Leftwich, at the team’s training camp today, there was no word on a deal for Culpepper. As one of the NFL’s few players without an agent, Culpepper’s negotiations are always an adventure.

The Steelers have also signed free-agent punter Micah Berger. To make room on the roster for Leftwich and Berger, Pittsburgh released first-year linebacker Anthony Trucks and first-year wide receiver Gerran Walker.

This week you'll be able to download a software "patch" that will graphically alter Favre into a NY Jet whenever he appears in the game environment.
They've also re-rendered the cover art, that can be printed out at your home and pasted on!

Titan's Chris Johnson was the fastest RB in the 2008 draft. Ran a 4.24. Need more proof...WOW!

I would love to see this happen or at least stop charging full price for a preseason game.

Goodell considers 18-game schedule

At the owners meeting in May, the quality of the league's preseason was discussed, specifically how some preseason games are a poor reflection of the NFL product. Commissioner Roger Goodell is keeping the issue in the news, most recently telling reporters at Bengals camp that the league is "actively evaluating" whether to add a regular-season game and cut the preseason from four games to three. Goodell then took it one step further, saying he also wouldn't rule out 18 regular-season games and only two preseason contests.

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks leading receiver Bobby Engram will miss six to eight weeks with a cracked shoulder, coach Mike Holmgren says. The 35-year-old Engram set a Seattle franchise record last season with 94 catches and then skipped offseason minicamps while in a dispute over his contract, which expires after this season.
