Funny Thing Happened at Sam's Club (or How We Set Up a FCM)

OK, today while shopping at our local Sam's Club my wife & I noticed a display being set up to showcase the original Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker (sale price $179, not a bad deal!).

A lovely senior citizen lady was obviously having a difficult time assembling the unit so we couldn't help but stroll over and ask: "Can we help you with that? We have one at home." She looked up and said: "Oh my, yes......"

So my wife & I calmly walked her through the assembly and operation. Unfortunately the only ice the store provided her was already crushed and the only liquid was grape/cranberry juice!!!! I explained she may want to tell customers that the FCM really is built to shave ice cubes and blend all kinds of drinks (both with & without alcohol).

As we left the store we glanced down the aisle to check on our new best friend. By this time she had donned her straw hat and flowered lei and was making frozen grape/cranberry samples.......I think she had mastered the FCM!!!!

Memo to Jimmy: No need to reimburse us for this personalized service to bring the FCM to the world masses.......but a couple of front rows seats to an upcoming concert would not go unused!!!!!

Funny, but last night I dreamt that our new Sam's Club friend had somehow snuck in some tequila while demonstrating the FCM!

The waiting line for samples was wrapped around the store, many people were back for seconds and had even brought their own larger glasses, and the store manager was praising our friend as the latest "Sam's Club Employee-of-the-Month" on the intercom system.......

Hey Surfpirate, I think I see another BN Critters storyline here.........

Whenever I see an in-store demonstrator, I think of my Mum... for a few years she was out in the malls and department stores, painting shoes, making coffee, pulling no-iron shirts out of a washtub... handing out candy and perfume samples, all that stuff!
She's 91 now, and could probably give that FMC a whirl for a day or two.

(Maybe I should mention it to her: she lives across the street from a Costco!)

You know I always try to be nice to these people demonstrating things in stores. In most cases I may not choose to take a sample, but it's "just their job" and I respect that. It's amazing how many shoppers are very rude to them for no reason.

If you could have seen the dazed look on our new friend's face at Sam's Club as she unpacked the FCM, well, I'm sure most other BNers would have lent a helpful hand as well........

Great story and a nice touch on your part helping someone become better. I am sure her confidence soared, and she had a great day. Sometimes it is the smallest things that make the difference, in this case a PH thing, as we say, some just don't get it, but you guys do!

The story continues.....

On Sunday I stopped back in at Sam's (No, I usually don't frequent the store quite this often! But I honestly did forget something....

). I saw our new friend again while she was stocking shelves, she immediately recognized me, smiled, and waved me over.

She wanted to again thank my wife and I for the kind assistance on Saturday. In fact, minutes after we left her with the FCM humming along her supervisor stopped by to "give her a hand" in setting up. The supervisor couldn't believe her eyes that our friend not only had her straw hat & lei on, but had the unit working and was already serving frozen drinks!

Our friend said numerous other FCM owners stopped by and also shared their help and ideas during the course of the day. She said she was dreading this demonstration, but actually had such a nice time she wouldn't mind doing it again.....now that she's an "expert"

Wonder if she's already checked into her employee discount price for a FCM of her own????????

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think next time you see her you must ask!!!
