Articles on Buffett the Surfer

Post by phjim »

ImageThere's a picture of surfer dude Buffett on the cover of this week's Hampton Style Magazine. The magazine features an article about "Veteran" (as in older, not military service) Montauk surfers. Jimmy is one of several "vets" who are featured in the article. There's also a picture of his surfer van. (thanks to Joe for passing that along to us).

Update: a link to the complete article and photos of Jimmy is now available: "The Boys of Endless Summer" (thanks to Matt for passing that along to us)

Another article mentions Jimmy has been spending time at the Surf Lodge in Montauk: "Buffett's Island hideaway

Has Jimmy Buffett found a new northern Margaritaville? The singing sailor has been spending an awful lot of time in Montauk's new Surf Lodge, sipping - wait for it - margaritas and hanging with pals. Just don't ask him to take his shirt off. When we asked him if he ever goes topless, he almost lost his salt shaker. "That's a f-- stupid question," he railed. "I'm 60 years old. No, no, no, no, no!"

Buffet did reveal to us that he has had his share of summer flings, but we will have to wait at least another 30 years to hear about them. "Of course, I have had a few," he told us. "But I'd never tell you about it. When I'm 90, I'll tell all."

"sipping margaritas"? I think there might have been a little artistic license used there. He's not a margarita drinker, is he?

I don't think so.....and looking through that mag, Jimmy seems to have taken on the persona of a rich fat cat. Also if you looked father into the mag. it was talking about a small cluster of home that were on the coast and were in big demand by rich people. Jimmy bid on one that was up for sale but someone else out bid him and got it. Get this people.....it was a mobile home. I have no problem with mobile homes (I actually own and live in one), but I thought he'd prefer the deck of a ship anytime. Our pirate is getting old and soft. That's okay as long as he keeps singing.

You can't edit in the NEWS Forum.

Seems to me that Jimmy just took his shirt off at Jazzfest to put on the t-shirt he traded his flipflops for. :wench:  :)

Great find, surfpirate!!

I haven't seen any pics from Jazz Fest, but I made a few screenshots from the webcast, if you really want to see 'em...

There are those who might dismiss this glamorous, stylized fantasy incarnation of Montauk surf life - locals who prefer the Ditch Witch catering truck to $25 entrees but they dare not do so because of the many local stalwarts who have already joined the party.

Yes, lets go along with everyone else. Can't have an original thought of our own.

Rich people are weird.
