Jimmy on FM radio.
I've been hearing him a lot lately on some of the local stations. I just happened to flip through some of the FM stations today, and heard him on two stations and that makes four that have been playing him regularly.
Anyone else hearing him more?

I've never heard him less. He's pretty much been a presence since Come Monday.johnson2113 wrote:I've been hearing him a lot lately on some of the local stations. This part of central PA is pretty much a "radio wasteland" with your choice of country or pop/rock......with all the stations playing the same songs over and over and over......never hear JBC-Dawg wrote:No, he is getting played more...look at all the press he's getting lately...and Ticketmaster has his tour as the #1 Hottest tour of the Summer (looked to see if they had released more GW tickets and it was on their main Page)
That's why I listen to Sirius in my car and home exclusively.....I usually have RM tuned in, but can listen to any kind of music/talk at any time.

Gee Chris, who plays him around here? All I ever hear is the original version of Mville - it's disappointing - the people I work with (except my fellow PH the manager) think that's all he ever did. No wonder they think Jill and I are nuts for getting so jazzed about the concerts. Although we ARE educating them slowly but surely!C-Dawg wrote:No, he is getting played more...look at all the press he's getting lately...and Ticketmaster has his tour as the #1 Hottest tour of the Summer (looked to see if they had released more GW tickets and it was on their main Page)

One of our popular radio stations has changed its format from "oldies" to "classics" and now they play Come Monday and Margaritaville regularly in their rotation.....
Where we are hearing him more and more is in stores. We were grocery shopping the other day and Come Monday was playing. I noticed a funny smile on my husband's face and I said to him "you can't escape anywhere can you???""

The office next door plays Star 92.9 and I go in to bug the women and sometimes use their printer, and have heard M'ville, Come Monday, He Went to Paris and OPH.....OPH is what really surprised me.ScarletB wrote:Gee Chris, who plays him around here? Not sure I like it though....Jimmy being mainstream "in style"...doesn't seem right somehow

BF-- The River plays Buffett sometimes. The usual songs. One of their DJs was a Parrothead but I don't think he's there anymore. Did you ever listen to Coffee & Jammer on WTPA "back in the day?" Did you ever hear the "Official Librarian" call in?Bfan53 wrote:This part of central PA is pretty much a "radio wasteland" with your choice of country or pop/rock......with all the stations playing the same songs over and over and over......never hear JB
Love in the library, quiet and cool.

Why is it so important that Buffett get FM radio airplay, especially in this day and age when FM in general is all but dead? All one needs to do is plug in a CD or turn on an iPod. He is well presented on satellite and internet radio, not to even mention Radio Margaritaville. Some of his tunes are even on Rock Band/Guitar Hero (not sure which) and tickets to his concerts are selling fairly well even in today's poor economic climate. It's not like he's some struggling artist who's being defied airplay.

I always here him in the grocery store, same grocery store that has the huge Landshark setup with the lighted sign and big tiki bar in it.nutmeg wrote:One of our popular radio stations has changed its format from "oldies" to "classics" and now they play Come Monday and Margaritaville regularly in their rotation.....

what radio station did you hear Cheeseburger on in Buffalo????sabresparrothead wrote:Never, ever hear him on the radio. Well, they play Margaritaville all the time, but nothing else.
I almost fell over the one time I heard Cheeseburger on the radio.
But that's Buffalo NY for you! When I was on vacation in Florida last year I must have heard 4 different songs on the radio in a week.
