Jones Beach

I don't know why it doesn't get much respect (it hasn't been mentioned here yet), but Jones Beach is just great. Say what you want about Great Woods, it's not on the ocean!

I guess I'm just an old rock and roll freak, but I have seen so many great shows at Alpine from Jimmy and many other artists that I just have to go with Alpine.

I've been going to Alpine since 1978 and I can honestly say that I have never seen a bad show there. The natural valley with the theater surrounded by mature trees makes a big venue seem very intimate. This is not a bulldozed hillside (although it has been added-to over the years) but a theater that was dropped into a natural setting.

Unfortunately I have never made it to Great Woods so I honestly cannot compare the two theaters.

As long as you enjoy the show (wherever it is), that is all that really counts.
