We have a Dyson and I love it...I have mostly hardwood floors and tile...the bedrooms only are carpet. It is easy to use and empty!

The ONLY complaint I have is that hair does get tangled in the bottom of it and I often have to cut it out....wish I knew if there was an easier way to get the tangled up hair out...if anyone knows how let me know please!!!

I love my Oreck, and they usually throw in a small one to use on steps, etc.

It pics up everything on all surfaces and very lightweight.

Good luck!

Same here.. ex had one, and although it was a good carpet shampooer, awful to use as an 'everyday' vacuum.

When we started registering for stuff when we got married, I joined Consumer Reports. After looking at prices and reading reviews, we went with what Consumer Reports called their "Best Buy". It is based on ratings vs. price. They test everything thoroughly and give points in many different catagories.

Eureka Boss Smart Vac

This has been chosen as their best buy now for several consecutive years. It performs like the Kenmore's that cost over double what it does. It performed BETTER in their tests than the $1350 Kirby and the $550 Dyson.

Current Prices:

Walmart: $148.87

Target: $149.00

We've had ours for 3 years and have never had the first problem with it. It's great and we love that it has a Hepa filter. I've had a bagless before and I'm glad we didn't get another one. It's real cool until you have to empty it and everything you sucked up goes airborn again when you dump it.

I have a Newfoundland and an Australian Shepard. Talk about dog hair!

I have the Dyson for pets and it works great. I don't think there is any way around cutting the hair off of the brushes.

Try Overstock for the best price. That's where mine came from.
