Ok Lisa needs a new washer, I apparently need a new vacuum.
What's your favorite kind? I've had $200 ones from Wal-mart, I've had electrolux, oreck and the roomba I've had uprights and canisters...........ALL HAVE FAILED ME!!!!!!!!!
I do have a dog that sheds, and 2 daughters that shed their long hair everywhere, altho only 3 rooms of carpet in this house. What do you all recommend, besides a maid?
Wanna go to Sears this weekend Lisa?

Find one that s*cks.
I'm on an old Hoover now. When that dies, I'm thinking about the Dyson, but I've heard mixed reviews.

I've always used Sears Kenmore canister vacs. I can't use uprights, they are way too heavy and unmaneuverable. They don't last forever, especially as hard as I am on vacuums, but they do the job and you can very easily get new parts at the Sears store.

I have a Kenmore canister also. I hate uprights. They weigh a ton!
However the Kenmore only gets to come out now and then because I send my Roomba out every chance I get. I love that little guy. Even if he does constantly need to have the cat hair cleaned out of his brushes

Rainbow vacuum...a purchase you will never regret, esp with pet hair.

Wife loves the Dyson. She even bought the battery operated handheld. I don't even know how to turn them on. We have two goldens so there is a lot of hair to pick up. Carpets always look good. She is a good wife.

We replaced an old cannister for a Kenmore upright. Love it. I think we paid about $250 for it on sale last summer. It was one of the top-rated models by Consumer Reports and they had it on sale for $100 off.

We've needed a good vacuum as well, I think we've pretty much decided on the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser.

It runs about 150 or so in stores, they just don't have it in any stores near me.... And I hate ordering big ticket items like that online.

I *love* canister vacs! I thought I was the only one. Much easier to manouver. I've never had to buy a vacuum for myself--always hand-me-downs!
Do they make cannister vacs any more?

I have been looking at the Roomba, do the occasional lost earring backs get destroyed?

I've never had a canister vacuum so I can't comment about them.
Electrolux upright - worked well and was the main vacuum for 20+ years. It didn't have 'on-board' attachments and that was something I wanted so I recently got a Hoover WindTunnel upright. I do have to be careful while using the hose attachment that the unit doesn't tip over if I stretch the hose too far. Otherwise, it seems to s uck well.
I didn't get a self-propelled one because they were all much heavier.
Oh, and I didn't go for the HEPA filters. I like the idea of throwing away the dirt-filled bag versus dumping it out and creating more dust.
What time are we meeting at Sears on Saturday??

This movie was filmed in my town. It was really bad.
About a salesman who shows housewives "alternative" uses for the attachments. OK, I'll admit that sounds funny but it wasn't. Dawn Wells (Gilligan's Island) was in it.
I can't imagine anybody other than Mallory wanting to see it.

Exactly. I don't have a stitch of carpet in my house...wood floors or tile throughout. Haven't used a vacuum in 15 years.

(I realize that's not helpful, but I LOVE it. Sure cuts down on the allergies!

I have a Kenmore upright-bagless-we bought it 7 years ago - I hate it! The container fills up very quickly and then the motor shuts off before I'm finished vaccuuming one small (10x12) room with berber-like carpet. (No pet hair-and all the other rooms are hardwood.) I can't wait until it dies completely and I can replace it.
On the other hand-I have had 2 Kenmore washers and dryers and have no complaints about them.
