FAMILY SECTION SEATING

Post by sjlmk »

Has anyone else ever heard of there being a "Family Section" in the reserved seats? For the Raleigh show, when tickets went on sale we went for the best available option and when the tickets came they were marked "Family Section, No Alcohol Permitted"!! I thought it must be some kind of mistake but sure enough, they meant it. My 23 year old daughter and her friends got kicked out of the section for having a beer! $135.00 each for tickets to Buffett, everyone around them indulging and they are asked to move because it's the Family Section!! Well, I've heard of a lot of crazy things but this one rates right up there. Needless to say, it has become a badge of honor to have been kicked out of the family section at a Buffett concert!

I've heard of family sections on the lawn, where it is voluntary to sit there, but not in the reserved section where that is where you're stuck if it is what TM gives you.

Weird...but congrats to your daughter!

Thanks! She is enjoying being the only one in our family of having this honor. When the tickets go on sale and they are disappearing by the hundreds per second, who is going to stop to check if they are in a "NO ALCOHOL" zone. I mean this isn't Hannah Montanna!

No wonder Buffett tickets are selling so slow this year, its the no alcohol zone tickets that aren't selling

I haven't heard of this, but I'm curious how much of reserved seating was marked "Family Seating"?
Is this a new Arena policy perhaps?
While I (personally) don't drink alcohol after entering the venue anymore, it seems self defeating for a venue to deny themselves the revenue from folks that do want to purchase these high dollar beverages. :)

Hoping your daughter was able to enjoy the rest of the show from the lawn with the other drinkers. :P

On the other hand, I do know some folks who would really rather not be surrounded by drunks, and folks spilling their drinks all over everyone. Those that bring their kids, or someone in recovery might actually like a section like this.

But sales should be handled differently and they absolutely should not be seats that come up randomly!!

Wrigley Field has a family section right on the left field foul pole...it sucks. Even a leisurely beer will get you booted. Whether its a ball game or a Buffett show somewhere else, a good thing to do is to go to a local sporting goods or camping store. They have collapsible plastic flasks with sports nozzles. If someone pats you down, it's soft and they can't feel it. Grab a Mountain Dew, throw some vodka in it and you just saved yourself $30 in drinks!

Again, unless you are a family at the game with kids, and really don't want to be around beer drinking, etc. I think the idea does serve a purpose--just not for those of us who drink :D

do they make you sing "why don't we drink milk at school" in the family section too?

Sorry, I'm a mom with kids, but this just seems silly........we all know what we're getting into when attending a Buffett concert, grow up and deal with it or don't attend. I've seen plenty of things that made me uncomfortable, I just turn around and walk the other way......and I don't take my kids to a concert until I know they're ready for it.
