Thats what the mainstream news articles from '96 suggest.

Something about they were dropped off somewhere nearby and the plane taxied and then shots rang out.

I have always been under the impression that JB was not in the plane when the shots were fired. As he said to Men's Journal a year or two ago, he is an embellisher.

I hope it was one of those record company things.

JB being all palsy walsy with Bono certainly lowers my respect level for him.
