my mom does that when she goes to the shows
she's just making a sacrifice for you. :D

last year in Cinci, someone was kind enough to get a bottle of Barbancourt Rhum, a 5pk of Yuengling, and some other items out of a cooler in the back of Marningritaguy's truck before he left to reprint his ticket. There are a lot of "oppportunists" in the lots even during the tailgate, much less the show when everyone has left

In Philly, since we are familiar with that area and part of town at the ball park this year, we made sure to lock up everything- our friends were asking if we really really had to put everything away and our response was 'we only have to put away the stuff that we want to keep'.

Sorry you got your stuff boosted, but please be sure to lock up everything for future tailgate events, just to be safe!!

And remember to keep track of your drunk friends too. :pirate:

We take down our display & put everything away before we go into the show. It's a downer but it's nice coming out tired after the show & not having to clean up then. We get to sit around, relax & wait for the masses to leave the lot. 8)
Sorry for the bad experience. There are thieves everywhere.

and the sad thing is, they're stealing stuff that has no resale value, so there isn't really even the defense of "I took it so I could feed my kids". It's mostly just oppotunistic stupidity

To steal...jerks

What a jerk to steal your stuff...next time make the cookies with ex-lax...leave them out..
I mean you shouldn't have to lock up your stuff to wander around at such a fun event..locking up your purse is one thing...but you cookies and a chair...give me a break.
What comes around goes around....

Karma is a mean critter

A few years back we went to Nissan (Bristow, VA) and had a big bottle of Capt Morgan and a couple straw hats stolen WHILE WE WERE STILL TAILGATING. They were in the back of our pickup truck and someone walking by just picked them up and kept going. Ironically we had been giving drinks to passersby so all they had to do was say hey and they would have gotten some anyway.

Yep, so sorry to hear this, like others have said plenty of idiots out there, shame really.

Someone at the tampa show last year left out a full bottle or margaritaville tequila, it was gone when he came out. I was not a bit surprise by this

Add me to the list of sorry people about your situation. (That did not come out right. I am not a sorry person, just sorry about your situation!) A few years back, someone thought the correct place to throw their hot charcoal was on the trunk of my car--missed the convertible top by inches. Within a week or two, the car was fixed, and of course we have returned to Starlake year after year after year after year... So glad other concert goers came to your rescue after the show We really are a friendly bunch in the Burgh--with a few minor exceptions.
Always keep those fins up, and your tailgate stuff locked away!

That sucks!! I had some props stolen a few years back and now try and lock up stuff that may be tempting to the turds in life. I do remember way back when we never put any thing away, including a tapped keg in the back of a pick-up, after the show it was all still there. I believe most parrotheads are a good group, and I bet you would have happily shared your beer and goodies, cause that's what we do...hopefully the turd will see the light and clean up their act.

Sorry about everyone's thefts. I think we just feel so comfortable thinking that we're all there to have fun that we sometimes forget to be safe. Yesterday at the All American Soap Box Derby--a great event for kids and families, one of the champs' family members had his man-purse stolen. It was turned in to Lost and Found, minus all his credit cards, $900 AND his car keys!!!! I guess a $5.00 admission is small change to the types of people who would do that sort of thing. In the case of a Buffett concert--it costs nothing to cruise the parking lot looking for goodies!! I guess the answer is--leave nothing to chance!

Such a shame :x

So sorry for your loss....

I too remember the days we'd leave everything out while in the show, but the A-holes of the world have ended those times. Yet the PH experience cannot happen without these misfortunes; I know of no other group I could walk up to after a show and say "My cooler was boosted, can I have a beer?" and know with certainty I would be offered refreshing beverage in every form from anyone I approached. No JB fan would deny such a request, and all would accompany it with a cheeseburger and a smile. We share, that's who we choose to be.

I learned this sad lesson about 5 years ago. Now I lock anything that can even be removed from my vehicle inside before the show, whether it's Buffett related or not. Still, anyone who thinks that something available for the taking is fair game is still a THIEF, no matter how they might like to see it....

Brown Eyed Girl wrote:Being a parrothead/JB fan does not make us immune to bad stuff happening at shows. We've all seen plenty of folks in the lots and the venues that think a license to chill means a license to become a drunken a-hole that starts fights, destroys property and steals things. Granted, it's only a small percentage, but sometimes the lemming mentality takes over and more folks join in. And those folks think it's okay and their behavior should be excused because they're drunk. WTF? There is no excuse. There is no invisible bubble of protection around a Buffett show. If anything a JB concert is probably more of an incentive for thieves, since they know that we usually have nice toys and lots of booze. Best thing you can do is leave anything of real value at home and lock up what you do bring and hope for the best. :-?
How true. Sad, but true.
