Jimmy at Summerfest

Anyone out there know what years Jimmy has played at Summerfest in Milwaukee? It's been a while since he was there, but someone told me '93 was the last ,and I don't think it's been THAT long. He always refers to it as Brewfest when he's at Alpine.

According to the set list database, looks like 93 was indeed the last Summerfest JB played.

My first JB concert was 93 at Summerfest.

Two problems.

1) The Marcus Ampitheater at Summerfest only holds about 20,000 people, Alpine Valley holds nearly 40,000.

2) While Summerfest can be fun, you can't have the same type of pre-party there. At Alpine, we set up our tailgate parties and have a blast all afternoon, up until showtime. At Summerfest, you could party all day, but you'd be paying $7.00 for every beer...

That used to be the case... Now, they only have free entry for one or two shows per year. I definitely think Parrotheads would not be happy with the experience at the Marcus -- especially with the odds that the contractual language for artists at the Marcus regularly includes an agreement that they will not play a show within a certain radius that would include Alpine... So, if you get Summerfest from Jimmy, you won't get Alpine. Also, since Jimmy gets Alpine all to himself, it's probably an easier and more comfortable situation than trying to fit into a full festival that includes seven other stages of artists demanding attention, resources, etc...

I saw him at Summerfest in '92, and it was a fun show.

I know he was there in '89...
I was stuck in MN entertaining my in-laws who had arrived 3 days early for my daughter's christening.

It appears he made a few visits through the years.

I live in Milwaukee and would HATE to see Buffett do Summerfest. Small gate, terrible pre-concert options for tailgating, etc!
Leave the Summerfest amphitheater for those acts that can't sell 40,000 tickets.
