Newport is the sh*t. Highly recommend it. Go rent "Wind". One of the best pieces of cheese ever on film. It is so bad it is good.
You coming to Newport?
prob not. Newport is the best town to party in regardless if Jimmy Buffett is there. I go there alot. With Jimmy in town it will just be a huge mess with 20 minute waits to get to the bar and rude angry people who got caught in traffic and then paid too much to park. I deal with that on Nantucket enough. Newport rocks every day of the year except maybe in January and February. If I go I will decide last minute a day or two before and go down early and make myself comfortable before the masses arrive. I am not one of those people (no offense meant to anyone) who travels to see Jimmy. I tend to travel when the "coast is clear' . . . know what I mean.

Yes

I know . . .

get there early. Seriously. Like 7AM and find a parking spot on one of the roads parallel to Thames street up on the hill (away from harbor) unless you have a room.
there's a 7 am? This could be ugly.
:o :o :o :o yeah it could!!!! wondering if we should get a room somewhere on the outskirts of Newport for Saturday night! :o
You know, not a bad idea....
pm incoming!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds right. they got a pool which is decent and a really great ice cream place almost right across the road. easy ride into Newport. I bet you could even get a cab for under 25 bucks (cheaper and safer then parking down in Newport would be) . . . when I stayed there in June of this year I believe it was 149$

yep, that's the HoJo's in Middletown. But there will be no such thing as an "easy drive" into or out of Newport. Just expect to sit for a while and be chill.

they also give you a voucher for this breakfast place down the road. I forget the name but they make these amazing banana and chocalate chip pancakes . . . wicked good. glad I could help . . . you will be glad you got a place. It will be a mad house.

One last tip that I am sure you know . . . if you decide to take a cab (which I highly recommend) reserve one early because they will all be booked.
