Kidney Stones! no a Herniated disk in L4

Post by Joetown Parrothead »

Anyone ever had them?? What did you do for them? I am home for at 3-4 days, I am going to be on good drugs (Lora tabs or something) just left the doctors; I have some major Kidney Stones they think. Can’t drive on the drugs they just put me on, had an attack driving thru Macon this morning, thought I was going to wreck my truck before I got it pulled over! Can not start to tell you what it felt like! Drove home about 100 miles after I got my sh** together.... I guess I have to drink a lot of water and wait for them to run the course... Yee Haw! :(

Yes I have more times than I would have liked -painful as sh*t
Lots of water and hope they pass quickly -I've been lucky where they have eventually passed but there always is laser where they zap them to smithereens so that they can pass
Good luck with yours!

BR, hope you start feeling better man. I've had them before and know how painful they are. Other than medicating, there is really nothing you can do. I agree with fabduo...lots of water to try and get them to pass...even passing them is extremely painful.

I hope they pass soon for you! You'll be on the prayer list.

Ouch! No words of wisdom. My niece had one recently and they apparently run in her family (her brother has had them, too).

Did you Doc give you any advice about prevention so it doesn't happen again?
Diet can be a factor, sometimes medication can contribute...
You might want to consult with him/her so this will be the last time you have to endure this.

Is anyone else thinking of Seinfeld right now?

Seriously, get better quick.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

My wife's a nurse, and a good friend of hers who is a doctor suggests this remedy...

He gets a six-pack of beer and starts drinking it. After one or two, he gets in a shower with water as hot as he can stand, and stays in there till he finishes the pack.

Says it really helps push the stones on through with as little pain as possible.

Dunno if it actually works, but would be an... interesting... experience. :o

You'd have to stop the lori-tabs, but at least you'd be numb when the stone passed. Alcohol is a diuretic after all...

My brother, I feel for you....I've had stones and been in the ER as a result.....1st time I thought I was dyin' ...and by the end of the day wished I'd died....finally in the ER they gave me an IV and Diladid (sp?) synthetid heroin.....AWESOME stuff!!!! Pass the stones later that night....Second time....Too big to pass....I has a Stent in to relieve the pressure in the kidney for 2 weeks while I waited for a slot on the Lithotrypsy machine (Balst the stone apart using Ultrasonic waves....) and then p*** out the chunks for the next week or so..... :o :o :o

Hang in there...take the drugs!!!! Drink water like a feind.....good luck Brutha!!!! :-? :-?

kidney stones

Post by big john »

I feel your pain, literally. I've had them off and on for years. I try to
prevent them with lots of cranberry juice. Also water or beer.
So far I've been lucky that they have been the pebble-shaped variety.
They also come shaped like rocks or, in the worse cases, like chinese
throwing stars or like the jacks kids used to play with. I read on the
internet that the largest one on record was 1.36 kilograms. Thats 2.7
pounds! Good luck with it. Just keep yourself hydrated. :pirate:
