Actually, I do really like 'Hurricane'.

My niece has seen him quite a few times over the past few years in conjunction with other acts, and she says his songs are completely unrecognizable live.

From a fairly recent concert review:

It's not breaking news that Dylan's voice has withered over the course of his storied 65 years. Nor is his tendency to rearrange the phrasing and melodies of his songs to suit those battered pipes. But these days, the man sounds less like a rock-and-roll icon and more like Cookie Monster with a head cold.
I saw him last year, probably the third or fourth time over the last 18 years, and his voice sounded all right; i've heard sound better and I've heard him sound A LOT worse. What I really liked about the show was that he had a six piece band, him playing keyboards the whole time, and he completely rearranged the songs musically, so it was exciting to hear and the band was super tight.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.

this year in indy was a first for me.....

i dance and sing to every jb song, even cheeseburger. i was unlucky enough to get glory days for the first time in indy....

i just stood there, motionless...not singing....nothing. i felt pretty weird.

i can not emphasize enough how much i hate jimmy's version of glory days.

I would prefer JB to play his own songs. And I know I am in the minority here but I think JB's cover of Glory Days is ok, I don't hate it. Maybe because I am not a Springsteen fan.

I don't hate it either, Hoosier...it's not that bad, I'd much rather hear him sing that than something like Brown Eyed-Girl anyday.

Okay, I will say he did do a better job of it the first time he did it in Philly in '05...in my opinion, and I know that's all it is...my opinion. But my opinion also says that the more I hear him do Brown Eyed-Girl ..the more it blows.

The way I see it is if he IS going to do a cover, do one from an artist from the area he's in at the time.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

I was at Indy last Tuesday and Jimmy played this, it was the only disappointment of the show for me. With Sonny on stage I thought for sure they would play "Uss Zydecoldsmobile", a song written by Sonny and a song that totally rocks with him on slide guitar, but no, we got Glory Days. How about a little bit of Warren Zevon instead.

i don't mind Glory Days thrown in there once in a while, just as long as it's not overplayed. Rainy Day Women, on the other hand, can be gone forever as far as i'm concered.

Glory Days...hopefully never again...it makes me cringe when he sings it, and in silent protest we left the concert in Philly as soon as he started singing it...

No more Werewolves of London either...when he sings it he does nothing to add to it. If he wants to cover Warren Zevon, he did a nice job with Lawyers Guns and Money in the past.

Rainey Day Woman I think is at least fun to watch and sing along with...but I like Brown Eyed Girl too..and Landshark, and I figure revealing that bit of info will get me slandered here somehow, some where, by somebody.

Glory Days & Scarlett Begonias.
Two cover songs I wish he'd drop once and for all.
On the other hand, I'd LOVE to hear "Uncle John's Band" live. That's probably one of my favorite cover songs by him.

I am fairly certain I posted this before (in one of the many previous "Glory Days" threads) but SoulMate had one of the best lines about this topic when, while listening to the MSG show on RM that concluded with GD, he said: "Hmmmm ... no final just-Jimmy-with-his-guitar song... Doesn't really surprise me though, because at this very minute throngs of angry people are probably chasing him down 8th avenue, possibly with torches..."

I get while he did Glory Days at Wrigley and Fenway, but leave it there. Like when he plays 'Midnight and I'm not famous yet" in Vegas, it fits. But Glory Days all tour? No thanks.

I don't get the Boss. Never cared for his music and really don't want to.
