I pay for satellite radio because I live in an area with 1 (ONE) radio station. And it's country. Unless you count the college station which is dark whenever they're on break.
I'm sure a lot of rural areas are the same way.
My only other option in the car would be CDs and while I listen to them a lot, it's a pain to constantly change CDs. I love my Sirius. I'm paying for 2 subscriptions now (mine and the wife's) and it's definitely worth the 20 bucks a month or whatever we pay for it.
Perhaps invest in an Ipod?

I've got an mp3 player. Even then, radio gives me more variety, and introduces me to stuff that I wouldn't have heard otherwise.

A-bloody-men.
First time I heard Jim Morris and Sunny Jim White was on the original RM. They'd have trouble getting onto the playlist these days.

I'm sure there will be a Radio Margaritaville- the brand is too big not to- but who knows whether what they play will get better or worse.

Maybe I'm older and prejudiced...but I have to agree....to me, an mp3/IPOD is only for downloading and having available the music you already know. If you can't hear new stuff somewhere, how can you broaden your horizens? I've learned so much about music by being exposed to classic country and blues...nothing I would even ever find on satellite radio or major radio stations. The major complaint I have right now about satellite radio is that when I had to pay for a year's subscription, I was promised commercial free radio....that is so not what it is now...multiple commercials on most channels. I'm waiting for the merge...if they don't deliver what they promised, I will cancel and just go back to my CDs.

Radio M'ville.. with ads for all things Jimmy. they may not be slick 30 second spots, just the jocks reading scripted bits.. but it is still advertising.

I voted yes, but I liked it better when it wasn't part of Sirius.

I agree. This may sound a bit ridiculous, but I liked the variety before, and it's almost too much Buffett the way it is currently. But if people are paying to hear Buffett, they have to give them plenty of it.

A lot of the posts here become hypocritical..It seems whenever someone hears Jimmy on the regular radio there has to be a thread with 20 responses attached as to 'how cool it is'!!

Now since all of us PH's are spoiled with RM which treats us with our favorite artists and throws in a few occasional classics, people complain of too much Buffett. We always walk that fine line of all or nothing, there's never that perfect balance. RM is just fine, we'd be effed without it.
