We've had a business casual dress code for about 6 or 7 years. Some people don't seem to realize "business casual" and "casual" are not the same thing.

What, you mean capris, a spaghetti strap tank top and sandals aren't business casual?

Our summer dress code sounds pretty much like Larry's office, but sometimes people wear clothes I wouldn't wear except on the beach.....

And I hate those shoes that make that f'n slappy sound when you walk. I don't need to hear people 5 minutes before I can see them.

I've heard women complain they don't get taken seriously in the workplace. The way some of them dress here, and this is a law firm so they're supposed to be professionals, maybe if they looked in the mirror they'd see why people don't take them seriously. Flame away, I'm a big boy now so I can take it.

I wear shorts and flip flops to work all summer, jeans and tennie-runners in the winter. Then again, there are many days that I never see another human being, so...

Not to mention that beer in the fridge and Crown on the counter are acceptable as well!

No flaming from here. If people want to be taken seriously at a workplace, they have to dress the part, whether that's a construction site or a law office.

larry - my students don't understand that the clothes you go out to party in should not be the same clothes you teach little kids in.....

i tell my students they do not want to get a phone call from a concerned parent because johnny came home and told mommy that his teacher wore a purple bra and purple thong to school

Lucky you! :D :D

I don't mind the dress code where I work. Getting dressed in work clothes gets me in a mindset for work.

I wear Dockers & Tommy Bahama or Golf Shirts on most of my Sales Calls, Some days I wear jeans, depends on who I am calling on and what we have to do. If we are walking a 5 mile new line build job and looking at options on material it is jeans, Hard hat, work boots, and long sleeve shirt! Most of my sales call's I go in to Office and bring food and they really don't care what I have on as long as there is an extra Apple Fritter or Crispie creame in the box.... Or tickets to the Cardinals, Royals, Chiefs , Rams, College Football or NASCAR once a year!

Maybe that's part of my problem! :o  Couldn't tell you the last time I was in a mindset for work!  8)

disclaimer: I do my job, and do it well, even though I'm really not in the mindset, and obviously on BN too much.

if that is all they are going out to party in... all I can say is that teachers were never that fun when I was taking Science classes. Tho.. a name like Gladwin Lynne doesn't really lend itself to the purple thong/bra look.

I wish a couple of my teachers had worn purple bras and thongs.

Nice Perk!

I have that in my office also, it is in my basement. My main HQ is 800 miles away, I go down there once a year maybe! I work out of my truck and my office at the house! This week being down in bed I have wore shorts, T-Shirts and did almost as much sales over the Phone & E-mail as I do in Weekly Road trips, with no expenses! Hopefully I can be back on the road again next week!

Shorts pretty much every day in the summer. With polo type shirts or button down camp shirts. Definitely pants in the winter.

We do work with the public, but we've never been "stuffy". A small office in a a small town, we get away with it :D

Ok when I first saw the title of this thread I read "Shots at Work??"

And my initial reaction was of course "HELL YEAH!!"

I'm not allowed to wear shorts at work, I'm not even allowed to wear short sleeve shirts at work. And it all has to be fire resistant so you know they are very heavy and hot.

In the office we wear dress pants and a button down shirt. First meeting with a client we suit up. After the initial meeting only wear suits if they wear suits. I am so fat these days I dread wearing a tie. I can barely get my top button done!

I work with girls in bathing suits.

(and not that it matters but I will never in a million years understand why women walk in high heels and then complain their feet hurt. this is why men will never totally respect you . . . :pirate: )

I think I'll get a job w/UPS just so I could wear shorts. 8)
You might want to re-think that......... I am a UPS driver, wear shorts everyday.....doesn't help much. It's about 86 degrees today.....the inside of my BIG BROWN PIZZA OVEN is about 115 degrees. It's a little after 5:00 pm and I'm just now getting my lunch hour. Still have about another hour to go after my lunch hour. Yea, it's a fun life.
