One time I read on the Interwebs that JB said in an article that he hangs to the right but when I saw him in Aspen it was most definitely to the left.
I'm so shattered by his broken promise, I haven't seen him since.

Larry, do you still agree with this (an example of a common sentiment from you in the past), or have you changed your mind?

You'd have to ask the specific artists that but I'm aware of performers capable of selling out stadiums that chose to keep ticket prices down when they could very well raise the prices through the roof. The fact that they don't choose the latter route shows they have their fans' interest at heart. With all of the money Buffett has made he could very well join them in that effort. That he doesn't is a sign of overwhelming greed.
Have you asked those artists personally why they charge what they do for tickets? Do you know for a fact they keep their ticket prices low for the sake of the fans? Or is this another example of your opinion? Whether you want to admit it or not, music is a business. The goal of any business is, or should be, to maximize revenue. A businessman who doesn't do that is a fool.
People don't go into business to lose money. But in the past I didn't think Buffett was still at it
just for the money. In that sense, my opinion has changed.

Jimmy Buffett played what Jimmy Buffett wanted to play. Some of you liked it. Some of you didn't like it.
Jimmy Buffett sells his merchandise at the shows he plays. Some of you like it. Some of you don't.
All the debate in the world isn't gonna change anything.
Especially when all you are doing is picking fly s*** out of the pepper.
Just my 2 cents.

Fair 'nuf.
Not that it matters, and not that it's a surprise to anyone, I still don't think he's doing it for the money. I honestly believe it is still fun for him to perform.
As for the products, I think it's MVille upper mgt cashing in on MVille, as opposed to Jimmy. They're bringing in paychecks, and tapping in on the market for it. They wouldn't sell it if we didn't buy it.

Music is a business. A ruthless business. Ask anyone who is in the music business, and they'll tell you the same. So why
wouldn't JB act like a
businessman??
It's a business.....
The part that got me hooked on Jimmy, was he was not like everyone else! He was doing it to have fun and give people an alternative. His music took people away from their problems and to this "special" place. Now, instead of that place, it goes to his bank account.

Slapping us in the face?? That was one of the most high energy numbers of the show in Newport. I see it as him giving his band a chance to shine.
Listen to the lyrics and you can tell it is either a slap in the face or an inside joke he makes to the band or his people.

yeah.. they put a gun to his head. keep him in a bunker in a secret location until it's time for the next short leg of a tour. He is just their unwitting pawn, like Tampa's whole "it's my handlers" line last year.
please. If it wasn't about draining every last dollar out of every possible thing up and including M'ville brand tampons in tropical day-glow colours before getting the casinos and restaurants pumped and dumped...
It's getting to the point of stupidity.

After all, I'm only speculating, but I don't think there's a gun to his head. I just can't imagine that it's Jimmy who's writing product ideas in his journal instead of his 'page a day'. (ruh roh, that brings up a whole other topic!!

"WHO'S GONNA SAVE YOU WHEN YOUR A SLAVE TO
THE DIAMOND AS BIG AS THE RITZ"
"GREED CAN CRUMBLE CASTLE WALLS
GREED CAN PURCHASE YOU THRILLS
POWER IS A DANGEROUS THING
IT CAN MAIM IT CAN KILL"
Overkill
Lyrics by Jimmy Buffett
Legal problems gettin' thick and hazy
Look at the people gettin' rich and crazy
Locked up in mansions on the top of a hill
Someone needs to tell them 'bout overkill
(Chorus)
Overkill, overkill
Such a megalo modern problematic ill
Climb too fast and shove too hard
You'll be pushin' up the daisies in the old bone yard
Ah,...ah, ah,...ah
I went found the truth in the Himilayas
Bundled up half-frozen munchin' Milky Way-as
Found a shaman in a diaper with a poppy pot
When I asked if he was cold he said, "I just think hot."
(Chorus)
Minor rap breakdown bridge
Out in Hollywood, the paper money rolls
They feed their egos, instead of their souls
A million here, a million there, a mindless corporate dance
Get paid for f****' off, in the south of France
They don't do the shows, but they act like the stars
They fly around in G4's and s*** on big cigars
It ain't about the talent, it ain't about the skill
It's all about the silly stupid ***** deal
(Chorus)
I got no corporate gig, I got no guru
I don't own the ocean front in Honolulu
You write the big checks, but I pay your bills
Now someone's got to tell you 'bout overkill

But it says "Margaritaville" on it, and EVERYBODY knows that when you write "Margaritaville" on something it automatically makes it better. See how well it worked for the tequi...um, nevermind.

I understand that people have a right to change their minds, and opinions. But when a public figure, such as Mr. Buffett, who has had a career that lasts this long based on certain fundamentals, changes them and goes back and his word, then I think he should come clean about them. By that I mean use of the telepromter, making music for money and selling out.
He was never big on the charts, and his REAL fans buy every CD that he has not just the greatest hits crap with ANOTHER verison of the big 8 on them. Instead of catering to people who just want to hear those songs, why can't he listen to the fans for a change? This is the 21st century. All he has to do it create a BB on his webpage telling people that he wants to hear from them about what to do on the next tour. I am sure that it would be heavily moderated, but at least that would be a start.
As far as me, I am the same person (spiritually and mentally) that I was 10 years. I am an easy going guy that loves his family. I believe that we only get to go around once and we should make the most of it. I am a spender and I believe (God I hope so!) that St. Peter and God don't care what your credit score is when you get the those pearly gates.
