Why do you attend a Buffett Concert?
The discussion on Newport got me thinking that we all obviously attend shows for many different reasons.
Some people go for the music and obviously get upset when they don't get what they wanted.
Some go just because they've formed great friendships with other BN'ers and want to see them.
Some go because they never have been?
I'm at a point to where I go to see friends. Don't get me wrong - I still love the music and I really don't care what he sings - well except for a few covers. This year for Nissan (the only show we're attending) we had decided that if we didn't get tickets that didn't matter as we were going to see friends. We've been to quite a number of shows and basically they're all the same. That being said we're also glad we got tickets and can attend another one of the same shows.
So why do you go?

I responded "other" becauase while I do go for the music, and to see the people that I have talked with on here. I don't want to wake up one day and see that he is retired and not going to tour anymore.
I would rather know ahead of time that the last show is going to be just that, and take it all in again one last time. I would most likely "fast" from all Jimmy music and related items and try to see the entire show as a first timer again. But I would also hope that he would do some old stuff during the set. I would like to see Fingers (can you all tell that Fingers is my favorite Reefer?) be a part of it because the harp adds a lot of meaning to the older stuff and doesn't sound the same without it.
As much as I b**** and complain about the songs, set list, the occasional lack luster permormances, the music, and the easy going lifestyle have been a big part of my life. I fell in love with my wife at a Buffett show in Detroit in '98, while we were both seeing other people!(LONG STORY), I learned how to play guitar so I could one day pass on that music to my kids. The books and his music, get me by in the winter, and the talk of seeing new things makes me want to travel and do as much as I can while I am here. It will be hard to immagine a summer without him.

I think I'll take my shoes off and go walking
Down beside the Caribbean Sea. . .
Palm Trees and views I can't believe
Why would I ever want to leave?
