Yes, yes it has.

I have to admit, I've been one of those that have said he jumped and what not.

Last night I came home from work, put a nice Biffett mix I had on, made a cocktail for the wife and myself. I went out in the backyard, there was my little boy chasing the dog. "Fins" came on and he immediatley came over to me and smiled and started doing "Fins" with his hands.

I then remembered why I like to listen to Jimmy's music-it makes me happy. In this world we live in today, we could all use a little something to help us get through. I had forgotten how nice it is listen and just enjoy.

I'm done complaining or reading about other people complaining.

Anyone want to talk about something interesting and fun?

You know...I was to the point where I was thinking "If all I'm going to read is more of the same whing and moaning, why do I bother going back to BN...maybe just find a new site to hang out at"
Thanks for the great post and another reason to keep coming back :D

While I agree C-Dawg, I just skip the repetitive topics. I guess it's the same thing if you are in a bar. Don't need to go to every person to hear what they have to say. Sometimes it's worse when someone tries to steer a topic off topic. Why go into the topic in the first place.

There are plenty of us who do and will be glad to have less competition for the tickets.
Hallelujah - I couldn't agree more! I, as many others have expressed, don't particulary care for everything that JB partakes in but so what - those are his decisions and his life. Isn't he entitled to live it as he see fit? I'm forever grateful for the trove of music and lifestyle he has perpetuated and will continue to be a phan and phlock to his shows until the magic runs out. For those of you BN's who have nothing good to say about JB why do you waste your time here? I don't get it.

I can't say that I really think Jimmy is keeping the shows too terribly fresh yet I really don't believe he has jumped the shark. What I think is that each show is crafted to give the majority of people in the venue the songs that they want and expect and he throws in a few gems that don't get played every show of every tour.

Yes, I would love to see Jimmy drop my least favorite songs and add some of my favorites in their place however I realize that the majority of people don't necessarily want to hear the same songs as I do.

What I think Jimmy does is balance the wants and needs of all of his fans and works very hard to make all of the happy for the duration of the show. I also realize that is impossible to make every one of us happy in the course of one show or even in the course of one tour. It is called a compromise.

So for those of you who think that Jimmy has jumped the Shark, feel free to do so, but don't be surprised that the rest of us don't necessarily agree with you. I will be at the show no matter what as I'm planning on seeing at least two shows every year in order to keep my streak alive. I'm hoping that Jimmy keeps playing for at least four more years so I can celebrate 25 years of seeing Jimmy play.

Just my 2 cents, but if you don't like the beer/booze/restaurant/store/FCM/etc, move on. If you are unispired by the concerts, move on. If you are disgusted by the crowd at the tailgate/concert, move on. I haven't been to a live show in 4 years, but I listen in on RM when I can. Do I hear many (many, many) of the same songs each night? Yes. Do I hear at least one song each night that makes me think damn, wish I was there? Yes. I understand if you feel like you're not getting out what you put in for a concert, but for many of us it's not just the fact that Jimmy is still playing, it's that he's playing for us. Would I like to hear more songs from deep in his past? Hell yes. Would the fact that I'm not going to stop me from attending a show? Hell no. If I felt that he had "jumped the shark" I would MOVE ON. I do not know the man and could not pretend to know the thought process that goes into making the set list. He does his thing, I do mine. I'm doing alright, and it appears he is too. If and when our paths should cross, I'll count myself lucky to have been part of the party, part of the experience, that is a Buffett concert. Again, just my 2 cents. Peace.

Exactly. Seven pages, so far.... Obviously, from my post count, I lurk more than I post. But as someone else said, if you're over it, and don't still feel the call of Buffett (and I'm a pre-Margaritaville old-fart fan), then move on.

I went to see Jimmy and the Parrots, a local Buffett tribute band, last night. They played Fins and they're were people in the crowd from the oldest to the youngest doing Fins. Jimmy's music still has a way to connect with people.

I think the real question is: Has the phrase "jump the shark," jumped the shark?

I've listen to Jimmy and going to shows for 15+ years (I know, I know, hardly anything). Jimmy still takes me place both on the radio and at the concerts.

That's why I listen. That's why I love it. Jumped the shark? No way.

I think some of you people need to either take a Buffett show for what it is a great time and a summer tradition or find something else to pass the time.
why do you spend hours on end trying to figure out if he has "jumped the shark"?

If you dont like the show stop paying money to see it. I for one will plunk down my $300.00 bucks next year for my wife and I to go. Its the law of supply and demand. If people are willing to pay for the show then the tickets will stay high and get higher. When the ticket prices get too high then we will stop paying. I'm still willing to pay and I always have a great time. Stop hating on a guy cause he knows how to run a business. If he didn't know how and was still playing in shitty bars you wouldn't have someone to b**** about.

Keep it up Jimmy I loved the show this year in Cinci...best show I have seen in years.

I agree... its just fun, and business, but that is life... I'll go for fun anytime I can. Life is otherwise a b****.
