We gotta turn this car around...

After an ongoing trend of negativity, hey, we're all guilty at one time or another. We have to get back on board and get back in touch with the reason we escape from our job, climate, home, etc. and visit this forum each day.
I WILL actually take a sip of 'Kool-Aid' and just be appreciate that we're in the thick of summer, sun shining, even in the U.P., and that my man is still touring regardless of stories of how he bullies, overpacks, overplays, and overspends.
The day will come when the carnival leaves town and it will be gone for good and we'll be left with memories and semi-true stories of how we use to survive the winter with the accompaniment of only beer and lyrics which could take us where we were incapable of.
Some of us b*tch, some of us wear that perma

, some attend 'em all, some haven't in 17 years, yet, we all are under the same palm yet contain a latitude of difference and a longitude of separation. But when it comes down to it, through it all we share the same passion and in the end, it's just not worth stressing over. Or, we'll turn our own paradise into everything else so stressful and earthly, using it against us.
One drink left, at least it was refreshing
Enjoy the day 'all.

I agree 100%...glad you said it so well, I've been thinking of writing something similar but doubt I would have been so nice.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one out there, I figured it was time - thank you all for making this place great.

You are not the only one out there! Thank you, and very well said. I was seriously considering stopping posting on this forum, but it is posts like this that make me realize that there are quite a few people here who do appreciate this music. It is one thing to have a difference of opinion, but it is another thing when the difference of opinion brings out the down right mean spiritedness in people, and that has been happening a lot here lately.

I was thinking about writing something aswell, but I couldnt have said it any better than you did! I understand some of the frustration that people are having as I have experienced the same thing, but when it comes down to it, Jimmy has brought a great amount of joy to my life, as I am sure he has for others on this site. Instead of complaining about how commercial he has gotten, or set lists not changing, I choose to embrace the great things about him and the band. Just two weeks ago I went to see him at Alpine, and both shows in Chicago. The Saturday show in Chicago I brought my parents and sister along to see him, their are few other artists that I could do that with and watch my family have a great time. I've spent many days this summer sitting in my adirondack chair from Margaritaville.com reading A Salty Piece of Land and other books, sipping on Landsharks and Boat Drinks, and listening to shows online. Somedays are spent playing golf with my 5 o'clock somewhere bag from Margaritaville.com that I don't regret paying a bunch of money for. I am also currently planning my trip to Vegas the 2nd weekend of October to spend a weekend out there with a good friend I don't see that often and hopefully make more friends out there. All of these things would be possible without Jimmy, but they wouldn't quite be the same. I am grateful all the time that Jimmy is still kickin ass, I am a younger parrothead that just started going to shows in 2001, and instead of complaining, I just hope I will be seeing shows and hanging out with fellow parrotheads in 2011.

I could have lost my husband this weekend. If Jimmy stops touring tomorrow, I'd have it in perspective.

Michigan parrotheads are dominating this thread, maybe we are so easy on Jimmy because we freeze our ass off most of the year!

I think this thread requires a follow-up drink of something more than 90 proof.
GULP!
ah, yes. indeed.
HIGHLY recommend that!

I have never started a negative thread, but I have made slightly cynical comments regarding the marketing of Jimmy, ticket prices and cover songs. I've tried not to get pulled into the ranting raves of some of these threads, except for my lame attempts at comic relief or hijacking. I try to stay positive and move on when confronted with negative energy of any kind. Thank you for your post....positive, caring, and helpful people was the first thing that attracted me to this site, (oh, and Jimmy's music too).

Thank you! Now this is what it is all about. One of these days, and I sure hope that it is years from now, we aren't going to have the summer tours to look forward to. I want to enjoy it while it is still here.
I was at both Chicago shows, and I'm still recovering from that weekend. The Saturday show was amazing even though the great lakes disappeared off the map.
