I don't think the entire team is under 16, I do think some just look young. Hell, so did ours for a number of years...this is really the first year they have all looked normal. But I'd say at least 3 of China's gymnasts are under 16. Divers don't have the age requirement, and the one diver flat out said that she doesn't eat (which is why she switched from gynastics to diving), so of course she's going to look small.
the one that weighed about 65 lbs
No,they aren't all underage, but even with just the gymnists,
if someone on the team is underage, would they have to give back all the team medals?
I would think so, but IMHO if the IOC decided that one or more of the chinese gymnasts were underage they still aren't going to take away the medals.

Yes, the entire team would lose their medals. I was just thinking out loud in my post.

Didn't get any Olympic updates for a few hours, and I completely missed the story about the age investigation.
Diving on now is pretty awesome.

Bob Costas has been cracking me up. He looked so proud of himself tonight when he was able to us the line that the American track team had "laid an egg in the birds nest".

If you're thinking of a gymnast, it was Chung Fe.

I didn't watch Bob Costas last night, so I'm curious:
Was he referring to the rotten-egg performance of the US 4 x 100m relay teams?
Yeah, Costas can get on my nerves at times.

I'd do more than just strip the athletes/team of their medals:
I think justice would demand that a 5-year sanction on the whole Chinese women's gymnastics program be imposed. That is, the Chinese gymnastic women's teams would be
banned from international competitions for 5 years, up to and including world championships and the next Olympics in 2012. Which means, China could not send a women's gymnastics team to the Olympics until 2016.
Sorry, but this sort of shenanigan stinks of collusion between "grownups" in the Chinese sports federation/s and quite possibly the government. The boom really needs to be lowered on them - do it just one time, and every other national gymnastics team in the world would take note. Everybody would be scared straight. They're not scared right now.
Sorry for the rant.

You can't tell me the Chinese are above trying this because they have a history of doing it. The gymnast age minimum goes back to 1997. On CHINESE CENTRAL TV a Chinese gymnast named Yang Yun, who won 2 bronze medals at Sydney in 2000, admitted she was only 14 at the time. It shows a previous willingness to flaunt the rules.
