South Padre Island-Question

Post by hangoutgang »

Hey everyone,

I'm taking a trip this fall down to South Padre Island. Does anyone have any recommendations for any bars with a Caribbean vibe on the Island where you might here a Buffett tune or two? Also, any major damages to hotels, etc. from the recent hurricane?

Thank you!

I would definitely suggest you try to catch Kelly McGuire if he is playing around there and most definitely J. Michael Laferty since that is his stomping grounds. He usually plays Thurs-Sunday at the palm Street Pier: http://www.palmstreetpier.com/

This is his website: http://www.jmlaferty.com/

..and you can check out his music/cd's at www.SpoonerRadio.com

If you're in South Padre seeing Mikey is a MUST!!!

Wanna Wanna is where I always wanna go. Don't know the condition after Dolly. Don't do it on my recommendation; most folks don't think like I do.

Thanks, Spooner! I thought Laferty was the one who played at Radisson. I may be confused. :-?

I also like to hang out at Boomerang Billy's...

cheap food, cheap drinks, kitschy atmosphere, folkie music in the afternoons by Leslie.

This is where we can stumble next door to the bar.

Spooner, if you check in here...

J Michael Laferty played Death Of An Unpopular poet when I saw him Sunday. Also Stranded on a Sand Bar. L'Air de la Louisiane too!!

He was just so so so good at Palm Street Grill.

It's been ages since I've been down there, but Padre Island is my favorite Texas Beach...all the way from Corpus Christi (N. Padre where the National Seashore is), down to S. Padre.

Please let us know where you went, and post some pix when you get back. :D

Hey, Dez! It is one of the best islands EVER.

This is from down on the jetties between Texas and Mexico and says:

For all those fishermen who have sailed through this pass and never returned...it has plaques and tributes with names. I always love going to Dolphin Cove near here.

It has been so much fun having so much BEACH TIME!

Last evening's sunset. During fireworks in the evening, J Micheal Laferty played some good partriotic songs.

Anyone who likes JB and Pirates, will enjoy going to the Pirates Landings next to the lighthouse too. Great place with SO many pirates and a great drink called the Island Blow Pop. A stop at the bar is a must! :wench: :wench:

And the South Padre Musicfest will feature Willie Nelson at the end of October this year.

Yeah DEZ, awesome is right!

That one looks a lot like Ocracoke, though you can't climb to the top of Ocracoke.

I like the Causeway shot too... Almost like a 360 degree view with the reflections on the glass!
Hey Snake, we need more wine!

What's really neat about that lighthouse, is that they show movies on the base of it the lighthouse in the summer. Folks come and sit on the lawn around it at the SMALLEST STATE PARK IN TEXAS.

That's all....

:) :)

(still giggling at gbman's new lighthouse)
