I've got a love/hate thing with the '80's
While I was into a lot of the punk and new-wave music, I think the style was just a joke.
I couldn't stand up for the hair metal, plastic everything, mullets ...well maybe the mullet
Image

all in all, I preferred the look and sounds of the free-wheeling 70's ....and I'm glad a lot of that influence is seen around here these days 8)

NICE PIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

hey, at least I had great mullet hair (wait, that's an oxymoron  ) but didn't go full on like these clowns...

quick! ...who can name this '80's band?

Being 33......

Ahhhhhhhh. The 80's.

I was living on the Island of Oahu from '80 to '85.

THAT ALONE warrants me LOVING The 80's Forever.

Being 33 now, I reflect back to being on the Island in '83 and getting into breakdancing and rockin' my Atari 2600 Video Game System!

Prince's Purple Rain and Quiet Riot's Metal Health were the first two musical purchases of my life. Remember buying the vinyl records and bringing them home to spin and spin again.

My neighbor, a beautiful girl that was my age (my first crush), once showed me her Strawberry Shortcake Doll. I can still smell that thing to this day! If you've ever smelled that thing, you understand.

Anyways. Luau's, five years of perfect sunsets, The Aloha Spirit Brushing over me everyday, yadda yadda yadda. Good times, indeed! 8)

My first three albums I purchased was the J. Geils Band "Freeze Frame", Billy Joel "An Innocent Man", and Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Very nice!

I think Michael Jackson's THRILLER was My #3 purchase!

Got THRILLER on Cassette if I remember right.

I also remember, a couple years later, buying 2 Vinyl Records of LICENSE TO ILL by The Beastie Boys.

I kept one and gave one to a friend as a birthday gift.

I still remember the feeling of combing my fingers through the records in the stores of yesteryear............where your new magical musical discovery was at your fingertips for the finding.
