Personally I am all for Flamingo, I love it there... but you should step over to:
viewtopic.php?t=67650&start=2040

That is if you are going to the 10/18 concert...there is one for the 10/25 concert as well.

Good luck.

also reflects on the $ you would like to spend

Grand is closer. Flamingo is cheaper. I've gotten lazy in my old age so I pick closer. We usually stay at the Luxor, a walk across the street and a tram ride. We have also stayed at the Tropicana. MGM always seems to be expensive Buffett weekends.

LOL the first weekend is a parrothead gouge. The second weekend is the lead in to the SEMA show. There are no cheap rooms in Vegas then.

It is convention season....but room rates are dropping, secure and then keep checking back. Mine at Flamingo have dropped 3 times!

I like staying at the 'mingo.....that's where M'ville is and seems to be pretty much the hub for the weekend. The street party is at the flamingo, so it's nice to be close to the room for that. Getting to the MGM for the show isn't a big deal.

Good decision on the F'mingo. We did the MGM and it was way to calm and quiet......sure the pre-party at the pool was busy and getting into the concerts was a task at best. The F'mingo is much livelier and fun.....the feel is right. And as everyone says it is cheaper, besides who needs a room with a bathroom as big as a garage......to easy to get lost in when it is dark.

Have a great time. MGM is a great venue for JB; both on the floor and in the stands.

I will take the MGM any day over the Flamingo. Given the unhealthy history of the Flamingo over the last decade, the fact that the rooms are small and dated and getting to the MGM before the show and back after the show is such a pain, I will stay at MGM.

Plus the 1st week-end all the Partys across the street at Hooters is real nice!

Unhealthly? I never heard any of that.... I like Flamingo, because I feel safer walking out the front door at night, right on the strip....

As for the rooms need updated - you have not been in the Deluxe, they are super sweet! The other rooms...yes they need help, but I am there all of 6 hours?

If you stay at the Flamingo, don't forget to buy tickets for the show by Marie and myself. We're running a special deal for all parrotheads during the show weekends....buy one ticket to our show at full price and get the second ticket at face value. Don't miss out on the opportunity....see ya in Vegas!

Three years ago when we were there, they shut down one of the towers because of a "norwalk-like" virus.....but I suspect that could happen anywhere.

Anytime you have hotels with thousands of rooms, you are going to have health problems. You just can't have that many people "living" there nightly and not have some bringing in unsanitary problems. I'm sure nobody wants to think about it....but one of the biggest problems in Vegas is bedbugs. If you ever come back from a Vegas vacation and have small mosquito-like bites on your skin, more than likely you shared a mattress with many other "guests". However, just like most other health problems...your chance of staying in a room with an infested mattress is just as likely at the Bellagio as it is at most other properties on the strip (although probably a little higher at low end hotels where mattresses aren't replaced as frequently).

Speaking of bed bugs (anyone else's skin crawling at the moment...shudder)...

I saw a story about hotel rooms on a news documentary (PrimeTime, 20/20, something like that) that said never put your suitcase on your hotel bed because the bed bugs can get into your suitcase and then you carry them home with you.

I can't verify this is true, and I really hope I never find out, but might be something to think about at ALL hotels.

you think the belly of the airplane is cleaner? Who knows what suitcases have been where.

I know you should not lay on the blanket/comforters on the bed

we could cause us all to become Howard Hughes if this continues...

Actually....while the belly of the plane may be filthy.....it cycles through a very hard freeze everytime it makes cruise altitude.......no bugs get to withstand that (at least the ones on the outside of your suitcase...the ones on the inside is a different story......)
