I am about to go get my weekly allergy shots which help immensely. But every year right about this time, I have a few days where I am absolutely convinced I am getting sick--feel run down, feel like I am running a fever (and sometimes have a very low-grade one), etc. It is entirely allergies. And yes, this is a bad one, but as my allergist has said-when did you last hear anyone say it was going to be a good allergy season?

Yeah, but the shots save my life! Years ago, I got shots for about 5 years, and then they thought they could wean me from them. That worked for a couple of years, and then they came back with a vengeance. My current allergist tested me for 32 things and I reacted to 31 of them (dogs were the only thing I didn't react to) and most of the reactions were very strong. Most patients wean down to shots just once a month, but there are a few of us who just can't. And I often, in the height of the season, take a pill to supplement the shots.

But given how I felt yesterday, something out there is really bad right now!

One thing I've always been very thankful about, I don't have any allergies. Well, except for being allergic to some of the people I've worked with over the years.

When my older brother was a kid they tested him for allergies. He reacted positive for everything they tested him for.

Turned out he was allergic to the needle.

I feel for you guys - since I moved up here my allergies haven't been bad at all compared to what they were in Dallas.

I think a lot of my problem was the ozone.

victoria and matt have seasonal allergies. they were both pretty drippy a few weeks ago.

tony isn't bothered by the seasonal stuff, but is allergic to peanuts and is ubersensitve to indoor allergens (cats, dust, etc).

Well, I am off to get shots in a few hours to. I am glad to meet someone else like myself that can't seem to wean off the shots. I get one in each arm. Been going since I was 8...alot of candles ago! Plus , I take 5 meds daily for them as well. Tried to go off several times and I get so sick it is annoying!! At my doctor's office we joke that I am one of the "special"ones. So, Ellen....keep that in mind....it just makes you "special" that you can't wean down. Funny, I don't feel special. :wench:

My husband says his allergies were the worst when we lived in the Chicago area (my dad, who still lives there, suffers from terrible allergies), BUT, like ph4ever, once we moved to the northwest, he says they rarely bother him... maybe 1 week/year. So the answer, my dear Tiki Bar, is to move to Washington! :D :D

Had needles when I was a pre-teen, but out grew the allergies.
Got re tested 6 years ago and they were back.

Just finished ( in May) 5 years of needles. I went every week for 12 weeks and then every month for 5 years. I am so excited to not see my Dr!!!!
I haven't been since March for anything. I still sneeze A LOT! But I will give it a try for a year off them.

A word of advice.......always Kleenex.

I took shots for over 12 years. Every time I tried to quit i would immediately go into a sinus infection. I did get down to taking them only once a month. The last time I quit about 6 years ago, no sickness :D

I currently don't even take medication most of the time....just occasionally when something gets stirred up....

I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to work. So my allergy season is year round.

I do feel for those of you with allergies though, seriously. I get minor bouts every once in a while from pollen or something, but luckily I haven't had any lately. *knock on wood*

I am definitely in good company. For most of my life, my dad got 5 shots a week and was still the most miserable sufferer I have ever seen.

and the last two days have been horrible! I feel like I want to just curl up in a ball and go to sleep my eyes are so heavy.
