Have you seen the Dish Network banners plastered all over downtown? I park at DPAC and they have two huge banners wrapped around the garage there, plus at the convention center, and a few other places downtown.

I'd think that in our current economic situation, modesty would be more in order.

I wonder what the RNC talk is for MN.

Nope.. haven't seen any TV coverage on Dish.. and not going anywhere close to the insanity.

Modesty would have been VERY MUCH in order.
The DNCC has brought in upwards of 300,000 pounds of lights and speakers, so much so that the ceiling had to be reinforced to hold them.

Qwest has worked to make sure the convention hall and the media city outside has approximately 3,000 data lines and 2,500 voice-grade circuits.

They estimate the project required about 160 miles of copper and coaxial cable in and around the Pepsi Center and more than a dozen miles of fiber-optic cable.

Xcel Energy donated the extra transformers needed to power up the thousands of computers, cameras and microphones.

Ninety-five suites were stripped of their furnishing and transformed into broadcasting booths. Some had to have walls knocked down and carpeting covered with hardboard sheeting.

Yeah, 15,000 media people are now here...

I would also love to see what's going on in MN..

My company gets a lot of free advertising next week, and the week after.

Qwest is the primary communications provider for both the DNC and RNC.

I'm so glad I don't have to be around for the daily zoo of it all. They expect the DPAC lot to be ridiculously full next week, and even though I'm a monthly parker, I don't have a reserved spot, so if it is full, it's full.

I think you should go. If you're too afraid to let Victoria see an historic moment, the bad guys have won.....
I'm less worried about the "bad guys" than the "stupid people with no self control."
You gotta go, if nothing else to experience the American political process. The historical content is a bonus. That forum is too large for anyone to attempt anything stupid. I'm not a supporter, but would love to be there for his speech. He is quite the speaker. I would also love to be at the Rep convention for McCains speech.

I just heard on the radio that the mayor of Denver has ORDERED his police department NOT to bust anyone for marijuana during the convention.
What an IDIOT!

I wonder if there are enough asylums and soup kitchens in Denver to accomodate the kooks that make up most of Obama's base.

Did the radio announcer happen to mention that in the city of Denver, it is not illegal to possess less than 1oz of marijuana? Was it mentioned that there is an ordinance saying that, although marijuana is still prohibited according to Colorado and Federal law, that it is the the lowest priority to prosecute?

Do you realize, personally, how harmless marijuana is compared to other substances, including alcohol?

All we need is a bunch of cops worried about busting kids for pot when they should be paying attention to other, more important matters while our city is swarmed with Obama goodliness.

I don't even know how this even became news.

Can't say that I do, Toots. Can't say that I do.
I just know HERE it's IL-leagal (in ANY quantity), and if these young bozos happen to possess it on MY beat, their ass is grass and I'm the lawn mower.

Apparently YOU'VE never experienced the personal high that comes with taking some young doofus down the tubes that desperately deserves it. (But, no, I DON'T place it ahead of apprehending rapists, arsonists, spouse/child abusers, etc.-just more fun).
And isn't the phrase "OBAMA GOODLINESS" an oxymoron?

I think the key difference is that I don't think anyone smoking pot is simply a delinquent that deserves to be "taken down for a personal high."

As an adult, I know as many, if not more adults who smoke pot than I ever did as a "kid." They have husbands, wives, kids, medical conditions. Outside of that endulgement, you'd consider them valuable members of society.

Pot being illegal anywhere is a silly, silly law.

AFREAKINGMEN!!!! The marijuana laws in the U.S. are so stupid!!!! Marijuana's positive use in the medical field has been documented several times.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

Your certainly entitled to your opinion, but wasn't it ME who was chastised by some people here a couple days ago for ignoring what I thought to be a silly rule? (Taking bottled water inside the baseball stadium).

I should clarify-I DON'T go looking for people with marijuana, but if I FIND it, I'm doing my job.
I've yet to meet any S.O.B. who was worth risking my job for, no matter how silly anyone thinks any laws or ordinances are.

I think just as many people would chastise me for thinking pot being illegal is silly. I'd get to hear about all the studies and statistics and gateway drug garbage.

And I absolutely agree. You are a man of the law, and if pot is illegal where you are, then you enforce the law. (Around here, it's pretty much a slap on the wrist ) I'm certain it is a bit different where you are.

If it's less than an ounce, it's a simple misdemeanor, but the judges here have LOTS of latitude.
It pretty much depends on what kind of a mood they're in, and any prior infractions by the suspect.

What it comes down to is, I do my job, and, whether the judge chooses to dismiss the case or send the suspect to SING-SING, I've done my job, and I don't have to answer any questions from any of MY superiors.

Here it's a petty offense and a $100 fine for less than an oz. They don't even arrest for it really, just write a ticket and take it away.

That seems semi-reasonable for less than an ounce.

Generates revenue, yet not overly taxing to law enforcement resources. :-?

AWESOME Mal!!!!! I would kill for a ticket :D Just soak it all up - don't worry I know Matt will protect you from the wackos!!!
ya think??
We were talking about the logistics if we only got 2 tickets instead of 3 and who would go. Since I know Victoria really, really wants to go (she's little Miss, "I know Obama wouldn't pick Hillary as a running mate because he's smarter than that.") I'd rather have her have her daddy there to protect her than me (who is increasingly not a pleasant person in crowded situations). Plus, we might not be able to get a sitter for Tony, so even w/ 3 tix, we might only use 2 (which would leave us with an extra....)

We won't even know until early next week if Matt will get the tix.
Hi there.
We just found out that WE ARE GETTING 2 TICKETS FOR THE SPEECH.
We're definitely looking forward to it now. We picked up Our Tickets today.

We're definitely VOTING FOR OBAMA, but we're not "Kooks."

That would be like ME telling YOU that the majority of McSame Supporters are Redneck, Brainwashed, Gun-Toting, Racist Bible Thumping Sheep.

Simply.
Not.
True.

VOTE FOR OBAMA IN '08.

Agree to Disagree if you think otherwise. It'll save us both time.
