Actually, I do like Arnold. (my right leg has republican blood flowing through it.) Especially when he first took office. Lately he has been taken in a bit, but I still feel his interests are right on. And he's married to a very sharp woman. Think how exciting their marriage is.Wino you know wrote:About as much as you like your governor.Salukulady wrote:Thought you'd like that one

Even though he's a R.I.N.O., I like the governator too.Salukulady wrote:Especially when he first took office. Lately he has been taken in a bit, but I still feel his interests are right on. And he's married to a very sharp woman. Think how exciting their marriage is.
But yes, he's fallen into that age-old trap of appeasing the other side in hopes that they'll like him. He (and many other R.I.N.O.s like him) need to understand the other side will NEVER like them, and they should just stick by their principles that got them elected in the first place, or have a repeat of 2006.

Okay, I'll bite....what's a RINO? And yes, he started out strong. Someone not from the political world that had fresh ideas and stuck to them no matter what the lobbyists did.Wino you know wrote:Even though he's a R.I.N.O., I like the governator too.Salukulady wrote:Especially when he first took office. It's a moniker given to liberal Republicans-"Republican In Name Only."Salukulady wrote:Okay, I'll bite....what's a RINO? And yes, he started out strong. Someone not from the political world that had fresh ideas and stuck to them no matter what the lobbyists did.
Lots of them run as Republicans because they feel it's the only way they'll get elected, and, once in office, govern, not so much as a Democrat, but as a liberal.
A classic example is N.Y.C. mayor "Bye-Bye" Bloomberg.
He was replacing a very poplular Republican mayor (who was a bit of a liberal himself on occasion) due to term limits, and, apparently, felt running as a Republican was the only way he'd get elected. Either that, or the Democratic field was overcrowded-not uncommon in New York.
Just my own opinion, but I'm guessing your governor would've gotten elected no matter which party he chose to run on. But I do like the guy as an actor, and, as governor, I suppose, like anything else, he's better than some, worse than others.

I'm sure people have done that with all candidates in all elections.Salukulady wrote:That election was a riot. I kept the ballot to show my kids what a mess our political system can be.
I don't know if you were around in 1968, but if anyone would've told me back then that segregationist George Wallace would've gotten nearly 19% of the vote in the presidential election, I would've asked them what they were smoking.

He most definately had no chance of getting elected, but the fact that he received ANY electoral votes was a disaster.Salukulady wrote:I was just a kid, but yes I remember my parents being appalled.Wino you know wrote:I'm sure people have done that with all candidates in all elections.Salukulady wrote:That election was a riot. To think that there were that many people in the country who thought the way HE did back then was more than scary.

Thought I'd share some of the sights - I have been walking downtown each day during the lunch hour.
THE absolute best thing I saw all day today

Could someone please explain this one to me?

Hawking thier wares

Obama in a bottle

Pins pins everywhere - the most sold thing I think on the 16th Street Mall than anything!

I agree with you there. I wish Arnold would come to Illinois and grab Slick Rod by his scrawny little neck....Wino you know wrote:I wish your governor WOULD kick my governor's ass.Tequila Revenge wrote:Favorite Arnold tee shirt: My Governor Can Kick Your Governor's Ass
