This picture is the closest I could find on Google right now. But can anyone explain why, in the last few years, players have taken to wearing these itty bitty, thin 'sweat' bands??

Normally I'd think they were paid by Nike or somebody, but the NFL is pretty strict on the uniform requirements. Socks have to be pulled up, jerseys tucked in, things like that. These fall under a medical use, so they're allowed...for now at least.

Yep....I had to wear one before they finally operated on my R elbow....Not sure if it helped actually....?

The surgery took care of it though.

Hmmmm... interesting. Makes sense for what the picture looks like that I found, but some of the guys look like they're as small as a rubber band!

Do they have magnets in them? Some people believe that magnets have healing power.

WHAT I THOUGHT AND HAD TO CLARIFY!!

those narrow straps are to prevent tendinopathy. By taking some of the load off the muscles and tendons near their attachment points they reduce the likelihood of tearing, particularly of the triceps tendon when falling on the hands. Physical therapists give these to the players to prevent lateral and medial epicondylitis and outright rupture injury and keep them in the game with less pain. You can get them fitted for the patellar tendon
