Out of curiosity I looked up an old boyfriend once and found where he lives, but have no interest in contacting him.

I have lots of male friends but I don't think it's fair to Mr. SGH to keep in contact with guys with whom I was more than just friends at some point. If I saw them at a party I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid them, but neither am I going to search them out.

An old boyfriend did search me out once. After I broke up with him he would send me stalk-ish letters about how he cried every night and couldn't live without me. I got an email from him about two years ago (after 20+ years of no contact) telling me all about the breakup of his marriage (in detail I did NOT need/want to hear) and how sad his life was. Needless to say, I didn't answer the email.

yep... i'm still good friends with a couple of my ex boyfriends. talk to them just about every day online. they know i will be honest with them if they are being little you know whats to their girlfriends. they do the same to me.

i don't think one of the gf's understand that we are JUST FRIENDS..... heck, if we wanted to date, we would be dating so just chill... no need to be jealous on my part. i just want him to be happy and if she makes him happy then great!

any guy i date would have to understand we are friends. heck, they would have to understand buffett shows and naughty lessons for that matter. :wench:

i have no desire to ever talk to the ex husband. he can fall off the face of the earth for all i care.
I must be wishing on someone else's star....

Why does when a woman seek out this info, they're just curious???

When us guys does this, we're pretty much philandering, stalker pigs who don't deserve their woman anymore?

See, that's what I don't get... I personally think a woman can be in a happy healthy marriage, yet connect with old male friends. In fact, I'd love it if old guy friends from my past attempted to reconnect (in a strictly platonic way, mind you.) That platonic part won't happen unless they're gay

And, on the same note, I would have no problem if my husband were to "look up" old girlfriends. I'd understand his interest in knowing what they're up to. I'd expect him, of course, to assure me that it's out of sheer curiosity; nothing more.
there's only ONE thing we're REALLY curious about!!! :o
Have you been watching that new show Swingtown?
obviously she's never watched "When Harry Met Sally" :D

I wouldn't be happy if my husband started wondering about his old girlfriends. I figure I owe him the same courtesy.

1.

last one in MT is married, and truely hope she is happy because that was all she ever really wanted. :)

The Tumour... name says it all.

Ex-fiance... last email I got from her was 3 years ago, and seemed like she needed to up her dosages. Did call to see if she was ok after the bridge collapse in MSP, but never heard back.

One, never thought I would again, and we are good friends now.

and one.. well.. I'm just an ignorant low-bred northern bastard, but I am looking forward to hearing, "oh yeah, she got traded in for a younger, former Ms. Alabama with a purse's worth of baggage" :)

Nope. I have no need to talk to any ex-boyfriends because I am married and most of them weren't worth the time of day anyway. There's a few I've been curious about and Googled them, but it would just be way uncomfortable for me and hubby. One man in my life is more than enough.

I think that's a load of crap, but maybe I had atypical boyfriends, which is entirely possible.

Curious? Fine.
Google them? Fine.
Make contact? Out of the question.

Incidentally, when hubby and I were first dating he ended up being coworkers with an exboyfriend of mine. Hubby had invited me to a going away gig for a coworker of his. I asked what his name was and then I had to explain kindly, gently, that it would be a good idea if I didn't go.

I think it goes back to the age-old question: Can a man and woman have a friendship that is platonic?

I say yes.

I believe if you're truly solid in your marriage, or current relationship, there is absolutely no need to be jealous of any other relationship your partner has. Now, I didn't say that a friendship with an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend should be physically or emotionally intimate. It should be clear from the start to all parties involved that friendship is the purpose of the relationship.

I for one, trust my husband (with eyes wide open) and I expect the same from him.

As far as I'm concerned, the mistakes and relationship troubles of the past happened when we were young and foolish. As JB says, "it's really kind of funny to laugh at it now, but I don't want to go back there". I don't look to rekindle and old flame, but catch up with someone that was an important part of one moment of my life and do it with new perspective.

(I do assume that an ex-husband/wife is a different ballgame altogether... the parameters of marriage are a whole heck of a lot different than the casual nature of the dating scene)

Harry Burns: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
Sally Albright: So, you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
Harry Burns: No. You pretty much want to nail 'em too.

Seems there's very little to gain by contacting them (does anybody need another email buddy?), but a whole lot to lose.

But I might be biased, 'cause nobody ever bothered to look me up.
