I could not agree with you more about Kerry in 2004. If there was ever a perfect time for the Democrats to take the White House it was then. For God's sake, Kerry was captain of the debate team in college, you'd have thought he had more then that in his tank.

I like John McCain. I even went back and read his first book (Faith of My Fathers) and while I lean on the side that John McCain is one hell of a war hero. Being a war hero, does not necessarily qualify you to be president.

One of the big problems about America in this day and age is America is not for everyone. People are out their struggling. While I think uniting the entire country is hard, it would be nice to see someone in there who can pull us all a little closer together.

How does struggling equate with America not being for everyone?

It seems to me that we have gotten to the point that we are looking to the government for solutions to problems that are best handled by ourselves. Struggle and conflict are not bad things. They produce change, which in turn requires growth. Not easy, hell it's never easy, but it is necessary. Without conflict of some sort then what is the point? Everything, and I mean everything, we do invloves conflict of some sort or another. From one extreme of the a**hole who wants to start a fight to the other extreme of simply getting out of bed in the morning. We, as humans, function on conflict and conflict resolution. When that is taken away then there is no drive to excel or better ourselves.

Why does it have to involve conflict all the time? I am not looking for a free handout or for the government to solve all my problems. I am just saying things need to be a little bit easier. Just a little bit is all I am asking for.

Yeah, I hope either candidate is too busy to approve the graphic design on ticket tags...and who knows what country they were designed or printed in. It's a moment, you wonder what they were thinking but I doubt any subterfuge was intended.

Now don't get me started on who wears and flag pin and who doesn't....

I would love for things to be easier. I would love to not have to worry about money, or college funds for my kids, or refinancing, or retirement, or supporting my mom and in-laws when they can no longer support themselves. I could go on and on.

But these are things for which I am responsible. And simply wishing they were not so will not change the situation. Making the government capable of handling them will only ensure two things. The government will take more of my money to do it, and they will not do any of those things the way I want them done.

Life is conflict. Plain and simple. Wishing it were not so, will not change it. It will just make you depressed because it will not happen.

A graphic shows what appears to be a partial view of this country's flag and from the perspective of someone reading the text the flag portion is upside down? A hidden meaning perhaps? Democrats don't know (or care) which way up the flag should go? Maybe the Democratic Party is in league with the Devil? Surely the 'swift-boaters' of the Republican Party can do better than this.

99% of the public political process in this country takes place in the shallow end of the pool - unfortunately.

I think the reason for this is that most folks in this country don't attempt anything more than a dog paddle when it comes to thinking about important issues.

This is why I think the Republic will end in tyranny.

Maybe it is nothing, and I am sure that the Democrats know how to fly to the flag. But I was thinking it was more of an attack on the current administration. Flying the flag upside down is a sign of distress, that the vessel, fort, base whatever is in imminent danger of being destroyed or overrun. Perhaps it was intentional with the message being that the Dems, and Obama in particular, can come to the rescue. Complete garbage in my book. But it would be clever. Or am I reading too much into it.

I too think this Republic will evenutally fall to tyranny, but I am just not sure when. Eventually the populace will forget the cost of maintaining the freedoms we cherish and when that happens they will be taken away. Then another revolution will occur to set things straight.
