that always looked good to me also. I wonder if they give you a sailing lesson while they are processing you credit card. If not you might end up in Africa :o .
No worries....the Trade Winds bolw in from the East......screw up too bad they will find you in Mexico..... :D :D :D :D

On a serious note though...... You do need to have a sailing "Resume".....though to tell you the truth, I've been sailing for so long, I don't know if they won't charter to you or if they will require a captain to go along with you (technically that is called a crewed charter....or simply a charter....without captain and crew it is a "Bare Boat Charter".......Oh ..hint, hint, I am availble, my rates are really quite reasonable.....  :D 8) ) I know that on the very large cats some operations require that a captain go along with you.....

Note that Conch does a crewed charter....and will teach you sailing as you go.......if you have the $$$$ it is a lot of fun and gives you an amazing sense of freedom....wake up in the AM and you need to decide not which beach to go to, but what beach on what island........ :o :o :o :o
I looked at Conch Charters and their rates are very reasonable compared to most of the competition. Should I be concerned about getting such a good deal? We will need to hire a captain and their captain's rates aren't bad either. We might consider spending the $15. extra a day for the sailing lessons. We were planning on taking lessons this year and have been shopping small sailboats for our little back bay for the past few months. That's one of the reasons we are looking at this type of vacation. If i actually book it I'll ask you specific questions about route and provisioning. I don't really like their list. How difficult will it be for us to outfit our own supplies while traveling? We are taking our college kids and their serious gf's on this trip. I"m hoping it will be a good way to spend some quality family time while giving the couples an opportunity to do their own thing as well. It will be either the charter or a villa rental.
Do you really consider captaining?

The reason I suggested them as we have used them in the past. Boats are in good shape, folks are very friendly (though we have not used their captains/crew...so I can't say there....). Provisioning isn't all that difficult.....go to the grocery store in RoadTown and supplement as needed (and rememeber you'll be eating out too.... as far as impressing the serious girlfriends......this isn't a cruiseship......more like carcamping on the water......as far as comparing a villa and a catamaran........well, with the villa you will have to drive to the beach or to the other side of the island....and then drive back to the villa.......why not take the villa with you and visit all of the islands and have an adventure????

Last time we did Norman island first... check out the Willie T...bar and barge in the bight.....fun stuff.... http://www.williamthornton.com/ ....next we headed up to the wreck of the RMS Rhone....very cool diving and snorkling.... http://www.divebvi.com/rms_rhone.htm ....next to the Baths on Virgin Gorda..... http://www.bareboatsbvi.com/virgin_gorda_the_baths.html ......then onto Virgin Gorda sound...... Image

Then off to Cooper island....... Image

The down round the end of Tortola past Sooper's Hole and to the East end of Jost Van Dyke...... http://www.b-v-i.com/JostVanDyke/ .......

So..IMHO......the cat is the way to go.....you'll have plenty of time with the kids (this is both good and ??????) But the cat is big enough to find a spot to hang out..... You'll get to go snorkling anytime you want....you'll get to go see places that are only accessable by boat..... :D :D :D :D :D :D 8) 8) 8)

Oh....This is the link to a slideshow of our trip....... http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=Marcus ... 916&Show=Y
