First was 9/11 I live on Long Island near Grabreski Airport (military stuff there) and all night all we could hear were planes & helicopters flying over us and all I could do was lay in bed & cry with fear

Second-2002 -the day after Labor day -my very happy, easy going husband snapped & tried to do away with himself -thank god I work from home and was able to get help asap -this all happened without any notice. I am told that it is PTSS from the Vietnam War and our gov. does not agree. He is okay now with the help of meds & drs (even though due to the meds he is not the same person), but I still live in fear every single day that it can happen again and this is why I enjoy my Jimmy time!!! I need it to deal with this fear!!! I still don't forgive our gov for what they did to my husband and they still treat the Vietnam Vets like crap!(as I cry typing this -I need some Patron) :(

bless your husband. You're right - the VA S U C K S when it comes to treatment for ALL vets!!!! I've heard of several Nam vets denined HCV treatment thru the VA because they had to prove they got it when they were enlisted and that they received jetgun injections.

In comparison - I have not really had "terrifying moments" compared to most - so I guess I am pretty lucky.

The most "awful or scary" moments would be

finding out my father tried to shoot himself in front of my 12 year old sister :x

getting taken to hospital by ambulance with athma attack

and two weeks ago - thinking I had lost my mind - seriously .

So did I....I went to elementary school on post and that's what they used. They were horrible. I've been tested though, so no worries.

I was trying to think if I'd been tested, but actually, duh, of course I have. I went through a second round of evaluation, including beaucoup vials of blood, for being a bone marrow donor, including tests for pathogens. Whew.

Hearing that my brother had been murdered (SDSU, 8/15/96). Looking in the rearview mirror of my car, to see a load of lumber untie and spray off the back of a truck over where I had been seconds before. Having dengue. Standing on a stone wall to take a picture at the Grand Canyon and just momentarily losing my balance. Having my daughter, when she was young, almost walk in front of a car in a construction zone in San Antonio (still have nightmares about that).
