“It could also turn out that these were nothing but a bunch of knuckleheads, meth heads,” a U.S. government official said.

The sad thing is, I'm surprised it took so long for something like this.

I don't know what's more sad....that it happened, or that I'm not surprised.

It probably didn't. This is just the first one we heard about.... Kinda like cockroaches; for every one you see there are 10 you don't..... I'm sure the Secret Service is a busy place these days.

There are enough random anarchists that every candidate is at risk. There have been attempts or plans documented against every president since Nixon. I would love to see the govt offer free transit to the country of choice to the people that hate this country so much. We have a pretty cool system of government and for the most part it works really, really well. Nothing so bad that it is worth killing someone over.

It was really sorta creepy walking toward downtown this morning. I'm pretty sure I saw a secret service person talking to his watch. Lots of hustle and bustle. Oooohhh, and I saw a whole bunch of ICE cops this morning. Those are some sturdy men, I'm tellin' ya. There's probably an entire perimeter of police around the Federal Reserve Bank.

Hows the traffic and services in the city going? Has it really clogged things up or is it running smoothly?

The route I take into downtown doesn't have any closures, but the highway traffic was very, very heavy. It doesn't help that I come from west to east, so sun glare is a huge factor. There was just gobs of traffic. Thankfully, I know a "super secret" way that got me off the highway and I'm sure it was much faster taking the side streets in.
There are definitely a lot more people downtown. A lot more people in the crosswalks and just constant activity it seems.
The real test will be this afternoon when I leave, because my normal route out of downtown will be closed (I come into downtown in the morning one way because of where I take my daughter to school and leave another way since I don't have to pick her up after school).
I'll probably just s*ck it up and drive crosstown to the road that I took in this morning. Or I'll just leave early.

I just heard about this on the car ride in this morning. I think Barack's secret service detail has to be bigger then the President's right about now.
I can only imagine what security is going to be like when he gives his acceptance speech in Denver
Phin Power (and lots of it) going out to the Secret Service

I'm not surprised they are possibly linked to a supremist group. They do look like such wonderful Hitler Youth candidates . . .
