Buffett at GW has always been a great time with lots of excitement, even well before this site ever existed and this weekend will be no different. Just because there is a perceived lack of a buzz here doesn't mean there is any less excitement. Of the 19,900 people who go to the GW show how many have ever been to or heard of this site? Maybe 1%?

But what about the weather forecast for the Sat nite show. RAIN!!!
I've been going to Buffett for the past 15 yrs - only had one rainy show. And it totally deflates the mood of tailgating. Damn Hurricane season

The latest noon forcast is now saying IF it rains it won't start until late Saturday night.

This is the first year I can honestly say there is a lack of interest in many people that I know that want to go to the show. I know its a selected few, but there are other signs I see.
I can understand the lack of interest for a Thursday show, but Saturday ???????. There are plenty of tickets on various websites for face and even the Buffettnews ticket exchange. In past years, if there was a show on Saturday, it was nearly impossible to find tickets at face.
I don't know if it is because
1) It is the week after labor day
2) The economy is hurting and a $150 ticket for an uncovered Pavilion is crazy
3) The concern of the crackdown on drinking in the parking lot this year at the Comcast Center
Any thought or its just me....
At one time Bubba played 4-6 shows at GW.
I think that you are a scalper trying to create a demand because you hoarded and bought too many tickets.
Keep in mind that Bubba always played Labour day weekend at GW until the Deutche Bank PGA came to town. That is why the show has been pushed to the weekend after Labour Day.
"I think that you are a scalper trying to create a demand because you hoarded and bought too many tickets."
First of all, I have never purchased more than two tickets for any JB show in my life, and secondly, the two tickets that I purchased to Saturday's show at Great Woods, I just sold to a buddy of mine (Jim Vail) for face value!
What the hell is it about this forum that makes people go hunting to ulterior motives?! My initial response message was EXACTLY and wholly an effort to address the title of this thread ("Where has the excitement of the Great Woods show gone ??"), and NOTHING MORE.
As a result, I have been told by one member "that no one will miss me" at the concert, and another has accused me of scalping.
The truth is that a whole group of folk are sorry we are not coming, and secondly, the two tickets that my wife and I had, I sold to one of the members of that group for face value.
For gawds sake folks, what it is about your lives that make you some damn suspicious and nasty?
B.
Methinks you're a bit on the defensive side there, B. You're taking comments made either a) in general, or b) to Steele1161, and reacting as if they are being directed at you, which they aren't. (By quoting Steele, that usually indicates that our Cuz was responding to that post, not yours.)
Steele was wrongly accused by Cuz in Miami, just cuz Cuz doesn't know him well enough. OR he may have even been joking.
And to address your question, some may say that the economy and ticket prices make some of us damn suspicious and nasty!

TikiBar...
Are you kidding?
"I think that you are a scalper trying to create a demand because you hoarded and bought too many tickets."
I would say that is a pretty darn direct comment..."...
you are a scalper..."
BUT he said it directly to Steele1161, not you.
And he did preface it with "I think..." And I think he was wrong about Steele... I think he's a good guy actually. Just an incorrect assumption (in my opinion) based on lack of familiarity.

Well I really hope the rain holds out til after the show. Cause I have some of those uncovered pavilion seats...you know the ones that used to be considered the lawn, but they charge the same price as the covered ones.

Unfortunately I know those seats very well.

I am excited, because I didn't think I was going to be able to go this year,
for reason #2.
I haven't missed a show in a few years, so I was happy to be able to
have my track record in tact.
This will be my BF's FIRST Buffett show, so I am hoping to show him
a great time!

Well I just read the thread.
Well, I guess if I was a scalper, I am not very good at it.
I put 4 tickets on the ticketexchange Section 1, Row K for my cost. That is 5th row. I believe I sold them. When I see the money order, I will believe it.
Regarding my thread - I was just trying to make the comment that people I normally go with have lost interest in going (so that is why I am selling their tickets). When I offered tickets at work to people that had gone in the past. They just said no.
We are in the week after labor day, so we are in the back to work/school mentality. If the show was the week before labor day, I think most people would feel it is still party time and would come out.

Steele1161, you are a menace and need to be stopped. Just to be safe I am locking all my widows.

I'll agree with the economy and it not being summer anyway would keep some people away. That and add to it that it is common to get rain in the second week of September, it will rain you just don't know which days.
The concert sold out in a few minutes, there will be close to if not all 19000 seats filled. The parking lot will be jammed and jamming though rain gear may cover up some beautiful sights the only downside. But if it isn't full it's Steels fault for buying up seats he can't use.
To the poster who is bringing the BF to their first Jimmy concert. Get him drunk and flash him and he'll have a good time even if he doesn't turn out to be a fan of Jimmy's.

Let's all pray to the Tiki gods to stall Hannah down in the Caribbean. The more time it takes to make US landfall, the later it arrives in the weekend. One Boston station has already changed Saturday from rain all day to sunny with rain later in the day. I have faith it will hold off until Sunday and soak those at the Pats game instead!
But should it rain, I say so what, sure we lose the sights, but this is New England, we have sat through Pats games in snow, on snow, during blizzards, in the heat, in the rain, in the cold. We can deal, just bring the rain gear!

It's going to be the ultimate tailgate weekend for me Saturday Jimmy and Sunday Patriots. I'm hoping for sunny days for both, there will be plenty of occasion to sit in rain, sleet, and snow this winter so let it be sunny! And if it isn't we'll deal and have a great time anyway...unless Hanna blows the whole damn mess away.
