As much as I wish I was wrong, Roe v Wade will NEVER be overturned.ejr wrote:I still find it hard to imagine any disgruntled Hillary supporter who cares about a woman's right to choose, choosing this ticket, knowing that both are pro-life. McCain has made his strong desire to have Roe v Wade overturned and this just serves to reinforce his intent.cammac wrote:Palin could go a long way to attacting the disgruntled Hillary supporters.
I think this pick will work out fine....
In the first place, no matter WHO wins in November, the dems will still control congress, and, thus, would have to approve the confirmation of any Supreme Court Justice nominees-they sure won't approve any nominee who ISN'T pro-choice.
Secondly, people of BOTH parties are smart enough to understand that if a woman is hell-bent on having an abortion, she's going to do it, come hell or high water, be it at an aborition clinic or in a back alley with a coat hanger. If it were MY daughter, as much as I'd like her to give birth to the child, I know which option I'D prefer if she were adamant on going through with it.
Politicians are no different. Yes, most of us are pro-life, but also realistic about it.
We still have the option of trying to convince them that having a baby isn't necessarily a bad thing. If they still choose to abort it, that's THEIR choice. Again, I'm PRO-LIFE, but I would hope a woman would choose against aborting the child because her HEART tells her so, not somebody in Washington.
Rest easy, dems-Roe v Wade won't ever be overturned. It just won't.
I wish I was wrong, but as a 56-year old who's been around the block a few times, I know I'm not.
