That's a matter of semantics only... try using the term CIVIC or POLITICAL with experience, and it's a completely different game.Skibo wrote:You are overlooking her experience. She does have more executive experience than Obama, McCain and Biden combined.Lightning Bolt wrote:OMG

Garry, you know I love you, but isn't there enough animosity in the world without calling names? You don't agree with Obama; fine, no problem. But he still deserves respect as a Senator....

Like Obama, I believe she is about 4 years ahead of her time. Experience wise, Obama doesn't have much either. He has done nothing significant in the Senate yet. His state voting record is also non-committal. I think he needs another 4 years with results. She too has an impressive record of fighting the machine and some success but it is Alaska. I have many times referred to McCain as the Bob Dole of this election. I don't want to push it and compare it to Mondale/Ferrarro, and I hope it doesn't become that. I will need to hear her speak and debate a couple of times...and of course pick up a copy of that Vogue magazine.Lightning Bolt wrote:That's a matter of semantics only... try using the term CIVIC or POLITICAL with experience, and it's a completely different game.Skibo wrote:You are overlooking her experience. I think this pick will work out fine....
In the first place, no matter WHO wins in November, the dems will still control congress, and, thus, would have to approve the confirmation of any Supreme Court Justice nominees-they sure won't approve any nominee who ISN'T pro-choice.
Secondly, people of BOTH parties are smart enough to understand that if a woman is hell-bent on having an abortion, she's going to do it, come hell or high water, be it at an aborition clinic or in a back alley with a coat hanger. If it were MY daughter, as much as I'd like her to give birth to the child, I know which option I'D prefer if she were adamant on going through with it.
Politicians are no different. Yes, most of us are pro-life, but also realistic about it.
We still have the option of trying to convince them that having a baby isn't necessarily a bad thing. If they still choose to abort it, that's THEIR choice. Again, I'm PRO-LIFE, but I would hope a woman would choose against aborting the child because her HEART tells her so, not somebody in Washington.
Rest easy, dems-Roe v Wade won't ever be overturned. It just won't.
I wish I was wrong, but as a 56-year old who's been around the block a few times, I know I'm not.
And, while you have not done so, much of the prolife movement characterizes the other side as pro-abortion. I don't know anyone that favors abortion. What we favor is the woman's right to make an informed and legal decision.

Women will have abortions whether it is legal or not. Doctor's office or a coathanger.

Looking at her bio, she's got a pretty cool family and life in Alaska. Why in the HELL would anyone want to give that up for Washington politics?? I really, REALLY don't get it....
