The new data also shows significant increases in the number who say McCain made the right choice and the number who say Palin is ready to be President. Generally, John McCain's choice of Palin earns slightly better reviews than Barack Obama's choice of Joe Biden.

Perhaps most stunning is the fact that Palin's favorable ratings are now a point higher than either man at the top of the Presidential tickets this year. As of Friday morning, Obama and McCain are each viewed favorably by 57% of voters. Biden is viewed favorably by 48%.

Fifty-one percent (51%) of Americans believe that most reporters are trying to hurt Palin's campaign, Not in America! We have a free press

Among unaffiliated voters, 52% said that McCain made the right choice for his running mate and 45% said the same about Obama. Lightning Bolt, go get'em. You have more work to do

She earns positive reviews from 65% of men and 52% of women. DUH

However, following the Wednesday night speech, voters are fairly evenly divided as to whether Palin or Obama has the better experience to be President. Forty-four percent (44%) of voters say Palin has the better experience while 48% say Obama has the edge. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! 90% of George Bush votes....errrrrrrrr............. Sarah Palin voted 90% of the time with Barack Obama.......wait a second........ OK, you can't get 90% into this equation any way you try to spin it...... I'll wait for some BN help

The poll found that 66 percent of voters said Delaware Senator Joseph Biden, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, has the right experience to be an effective president. Twenty-one percent believed Biden, presidential candidate Barack Obama's running mate, lacks the right experience to be president.

The poll found that Obama benefited more from his selection of Biden than McCain did by picking Palin. While 25 percent said they were more likely to vote for McCain because he picked Palin, 19 percent said they were less likely to support his candidacy. A majority, 55 percent, said the choice won't affect their vote.

By contrast, 22 percent of voters said Biden's selection for the Democratic ticket made them more likely to vote for Obama, while just 10 percent said they were less likely to support the Illinois senator's presidential candidacy. Again, a majority -- 67 percent -- said the choice won't matter in their vote.

A Rasmussen poll found that the Palin pick made 31% of undecided voters less likely to plump for Mr McCain and only 6% more likely.

That's not good considering John McCain already has the Republican base shored up. He enjoys more support among Republicans than Obama does among Democrats.
