The New York Post has an article on fans who could not get tickets and listened to the show in the parking lot: "Pavement Party: Buffett's Fans Land on ther Asphalt"
The place to hear Jimmy Buffett spin his pirate yarn about letting the good times roll wasn't from the seats inside the Jones Beach amphitheater Tuesday night. It was in the sprawling parking lot with his devoted followers, affectionately known as Parrotheads.

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

There's at least one quote in the article that's complete BS -
An off-duty cop named Jimmy - beer in hand, parrot hat on head - explained the hands-off policy to me.
He said that, when Buffett played Jones Beach in 2006, scores of his fans were arrested and fined for public drinking or worse. Buffett supposedly got so many complaints from his legions that he skipped the venue altogether last year. According to Jimmy the cop, Buffett would agree to this gig only if the police's Parrot-hunting policy stopped.
If I were a betting man, I'd bet that has nothing to do with Buffett not playing Jones Beach last year. He hasn't played Jones Beach in consecutive years since 1997/98. And if he was so quick to respond to "so many complaints from his legions" then why the ***** does he still play the same f'n songs every night?

its a nice thought to think thats the reason he didnt play the beach last summer but we all know he plays there every 2 years. he should listen to his fans and read these forums more to see what some of us are asking for.

I could probably handle Gardner McKay, but I'm pretty sure Popeye would kick my ass

Honestly the Post isn't worth wrapping your fish in for fear of spoiling them. As usual they never get there facts straight before running an article otherwise this would have read quite differently.
