Hmmm, now I'm thinking I should have pre-ordered.
A Mailboat Records release might be a little hard to find at the usual places on my way home today. :-?

I got a nice package from Mailboat in my mailbox today. Nadirah's CD arrived, and I just finished listening to it. I love it. It's not often that I can buy an album and love every song on the album. This album is awesome.

Highlights that grab me right now, and these will change at any given moment:
- Creola (What a way to start off an album! The thing that I love best about Nadirah covering Jimmy's songs is that she makes them completely her own.)
- Makin' Music For Money (I enjoy seeing her do this song live, and it is a fun song!)
- Give Henry the Receipt (This is Jazy. I was typing a tedious orthopedic report when this song came up, and I had to stop typing and do a chair dance. I'm glad the guide dog is the only one who saw me acting silly, and she will never tell on me.)
- Margaritaville (Again, she makes it her own. I love it!)
- Son Of A Son Of A Sailor (featuring Jimmy Buffett) (Now this is great! I love it when she kicks it into a Proud Mary type of thing!)
- When The War Is Over (featuring Jimmy Buffett) (Oh what a statement this song makes!)
- People Call Me Jesus (I'm going to try to convince my praise and worship team at church to do something with this song. My music director wants us to think out of the box, well, this will do it for sure, and this song hits right on the money!)
- Wonder Why We Ever Go Home (I love this song anyway, and when I heard Nadirah perform this at the Fillmore last year I took notice of her voice for the first time. Very nice indeed)

Again, these are just my favorites for now. I reserve the right to change them at any moment. Awesome album! Congratulations Nadirah and very well done. Note to self, don't forget to put this album in the fanny pack next week to listen to while I am flying to Las Vegas.

Picked up Nadirah's CD at Margaritaville in Las Vegas over the weekend. I was kind of in a hurry to leave for the train station yesterday morning so I forgot to bring it to the office with me. I'm on my second listen since I got in this morning and I'm liking it. I will admit to being a bit biased but I really like the song "Open", which Nadirah co-wrote with Paul Pesco and Heather Dee Perry. Congrats to Nadirah for a great CD and to Heather for helping out with a really good song.

ok, i'll be the naysayer....

nadirah's vocal's are fabulous. that's about where it ends for me. creola is great but the song selection is terrible. margaritaville? give me a break. with all the great JB songs that tell a tale, Mville? And there's no way Nadirah can make SOASOAS her own. This is a very personal song that's JBs and only JB's.

since i bought the album on iTunes i don't have any linernotes, but for the most part the sound mixer should be shot. on a number of the songs her delicate vocals are completely drowned out by the instrumental tracks. somebody forgot she's the lead vocals and not the backup vocal track.

this album had soooooo much potential to showcase Nadirah's incredible voice, but in my opinion failed miserably.

overall, i would not recommend it to a friend, nor would i buy it again.

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

Congratulations on your CD and the success of the release party. I wish Les and I could have been there!

I love the CD - I don't think you could have made it any better.

I was wondering if you were going to be at rally for Obama on Sunday. I know normally Jimmy does them solo - but he has never done a rally at a venue this big before. I have been to all in the past 12 years. I am so excited. I am more excited about Barack than anyone running in the past 25 years!!!

I can'tbelieve it is over 2 years since I got to meet you, Jimmy, and the entire band in Boston. It is still the best weekend of my life! I was pregnant at the time and my son Evan James is almost 2! I am still singing but not at the level I want to be. I feel being 42 with kids makes it impossible.

Do you think they would ever consider letting someone who supports Jimmy and Barack for so long sing our National Anthem at the rally? Would there be a certain person to best contact for that? That would be the highlight of my life... thought maybe you might know. Of course the real highlight - OK... fantasy would be to sing it in harmony with you. :D

Congrats again on the CD and I hope to see you on Sunday!

Please don't let being 42 with kids discourage you in any way. I am a Mother with a few years on you. As for singing the national anthem I wish I could help but I have no idea who the contact person would be for something like that.

See You on Sunday,

Nadirah

Nadirah,
I was able to obtain your CD at MOTM and a friend had You sign it for me.
Thank You for taking the time.
Today is the first chance I have had to listen, I love it.
( Now I wish i had made time earlier. You really added Your personal touches to the music.) Words can not describe it; calling it a cover album of Buffett music does not do it justice. Thanks for taking the time and effort.
My entire office enjoyed it this Afternoon the "grumpies" were even inquiring.
What is my co-pay for Margaritaville?
