Nadirah Shakoor's New Album

Post by phjim »

ImageFrom Nadirah Shakoor: Well my friends I finally do have an official release date for "Nod to the Storyteller" of October 14, 2008! Who knew there would be so many little details to tend to? The art work has been the most time consuming. What do you think of the cover?

I must say that I am very proud of this particular collection of songs. Mr Buffett gave me the twinkling of the eyes smile after he listened (whew!) and I hope you all feel the same especially since you helped choose the music.

Some audio clips from album "Nod to the Storyteller" are now available:
"Creola"
"Making Music for Money"
"When the War is Over" (featuring Jimmy Buffett)
"Frenchman for the Night"
"Wonder Why You Ever Go Home"
"Let Him Go" (a song by Mac McAnally)

We will be celebrating the release at my Las Vegas Margaritaville show Friday October 24th, 2008 from 9pm until and of course you are all invited.

Again thank you all for showing so much Love and Support.

Awesome, Nadirah! The cover looks great, too!

We'll be there the 24th - wishing nothing but good things with this release! :D
A most mysterious calling harbour
So far, but yet, so near
Where I see the day
When my hair's full gray
and I finally...disappear. BUT NOT YET!!

Thank you, THANK YOU for doing your magic with "Wonder Why You Ever Go Home" Love that song, love the clip I've just heard!!!

This one doesn't get played enough. Would love to hear it moved into the concert rotation....though Making Music For Money has been a lovely gift too.

Can't wait for the whole thing!!

VERY NICE!! :D Very visually pleasing, in an exciting yet comforting way.

I LOVE that twinkling of the eyes smile that Jimmy gives, and I really love that you'd mention it! :D I've been lucky / happy to see a couple shows up close and personal this year, and one of my favorite parts is getting to see his facial expressions and body language SHOUT his appreciation and admiration for you, when you're featured on Making Music for Money, War is Over, and such!! It's kind of hard to describe, kind of hard to explain, but REALLY COOL to see (and feel)!

I'm accepting your invitation   , and I cannot wait to see you again and help celebrate at the CD release celebration in Vegas on 10/24! I cannot wait! :D

I listened to and enjoyed the snippets on Meet the Phlockers! Thank you! I really really like 'Wonder Why We Ever Go Home'! Is that Mac on piano??

Congrats again, Nadirah! :D Not too much longer, now!

How exciting, for you and for us... your fans! :D

Great news Nadirah....my fiance isn't a Parrotthead as I am, but enjoys the shows nevertheless. On the way home from GW, she told me she likes the songs you sing on the best, as she loves your voice.
OPH wouldn't be the song it is without you. You make the song soar, and I get chills everytime I hear it.
Marilyn's birthday is a week after the release of your CD, I know one gift she'll be getting.
Thanks again!!

Today's the day!!! October 14th!! Congratulations, Nadirah!!!

I planned to wait until Vegas to get mine, but saw UpstateNYPH posted that BG and BN got a shoutout in the liner notes!! Seeing as how both are near and dear to my heart, I think it's so newsworthy that I want to stand on a mountaintop and scream it at the top of my lungs!!! :D :D

But, this will have to do in a pinch!

From the liner notes on Nod to the Storyteller:

...Thank you
To all the musicians who played so beautifully. I feel the love each time I listen. Mike Ramos the busiest man I know for making time for me. Savannah Jane Buffett for your list of suggested songs that got the ball rolling. The Balcony Girls and my friends at Buffett News for helping to complete the list...

CONGRATULATIONS CINDI AND BOOP, PHJIM, AND EVERYONE HERE WHO ANSWERED NADIRAH'S CALL FOR SUGGESTIONS!! AND CONGRATULATIONS NADIRAH!! Fruition... ENJOY! :D :D :D :D

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I'll be celebrating in their honor!! :D :D
