I don't think the rest of that paragraph backs up that opening sentence.

Baltimore did the mistake by the lake a favour by taking Art Modell and his wretched team. Your hatred of Steeler fans sounds like jealousy to me. Really, has your team ever been in a super bowl game? let alone win a few trophies? Maybe you are experiencing flashbacks of the 70's where the steelers would come to Cleveland and drill Brian Sipe into the ground and the Steeler fans would out number the Brownie fans and kick their loser butts too.

Maybe you should try supporting a team that is not an illegitimate stolen franchise, one that doesn't make you a hypocrite. Baltimore fans truly sicken me. They had a franchise stolen from them so they act like that gives them some moral authority to do it to someone else. They are the definition of hypocrisy and that franchise should be moved away, the stadium torn down and the earth salted on that spot so nothing will ever grow there again.
What? Baltimore was the last city that wanted someone else's franchise. They felt the pain and spent a decade working with the NFL to get an expansion franchise to replace their beloved Colts. The NFL shafted Baltimore by expanding to Jacksonsville and Carolina instead.
The NFL is still bending over backwards to get L.A. another team, even though L.A. has made it clear they don't really want/or need one. Witness the Raiders moving there and back.
The NFL has bent over backwards to help Houston regain a franchise.
The NFL bent over backwards to help Cleveland get a team back (once Cleveland decided to build the stadium that would have kept the original Browns franchise there in the first place). The NFL allowed Cleveland to keep the rights to the Browns name, colors and history.
It's still a crock whenever anyone in the media or Indianapolis tries to list the history of the franchise by quoting Baltimore Colts achievements. The same that that happened for Cleveland should have happened to Baltimore, i.e. the name, colors and history should always remain with Baltimore.
The city of Baltimore did not want the Browns franchise, but after 10+ years of being used by the NFL and every owner who wanted a better stadium deal and used Baltimore as a negotiating point, and after getting shafted and watching the NFL codder other cities (Jacksonville, Tennesee, Houston, Arizona, L.A., Carolina) they accepted the inevitable. When Cleveland and the Browns franchise could not work out a stadium deal, they brought them to Baltimore. They were not "stolen" in the middle of the night like the Colts move to Indianapolis ...... over 2 years of failed negotiations ... VERY PUBLIC negotiations took place. When the city of Cleveland and the Browns reached an impasse, the franchise moved to Baltimore.
The Indianapolis Colts move was all done in back rooms and out of the media spotlight.
Johnny Unitas was once asked by Indianapolis to participate in a ceremony that would honor him and other Colt greats (Baltimore Colts greats mind you) ..... he said effectively "Hell no ... I played for Baltimore". With Johnny U's blessing, the fans in Baltimore have accepted the Ravens (Johnny U stood on the sidelines of every game until his death) ...... but trust me, the fans in Baltimore would much prefer to have what Cleveland was allowed .... the historic name associated with the city.
What a bunch of revisionist art modell loving garbage. There were no negotiations done in the light of day. The first time we heard about crackmore was when modell announced he had already signed contracts with them and had agreed to the move. And if he had been public about his problems, he could obviously gotten a new stadium as the stadium levy passed within days of his announcement. The only reason he announced it in the middle of the season was because he felt he had to before Cleveland had a chance to vote on a new stadium.
If baltimore did not want someone elses franchise then they should not have accepted this travesty in their name. The fact that they did makes them hypocrites. They stopped supporting the Colts in the years leading up to the move. Browns fans have never stopped supporting anything. It was the outrage and uproar of Browns fans that allowed us to keep our name, and allowed us to keep our franchise. Colts fans in baltimore just stopped showing up.
I'm sorry I get so riled up about this, but I'm a fourth generation Browns fan. We love our team like no one in baltimore who acts like he cares about their little franchise they bastardized and named after a poem, and I will never accept those pansies as a legitimate member of the NFL families. As long as crackmore fans fail to realize how offensive and insulting their very existence is, I personally hope they continue to get choked in public.
I'm sure you know more about the negotiations and timing of what took place between Modell and the city of Cleveland ... it was probably very similiar to what took place between Irsay and the city of Baltimore. I'm interested in your comments/feedback on the other points I've tried to make.
By the way ... I am a D.C. area Redskins fan. My comments on the Baltimore Colts come from secondary leanings with my friends in Baltimore.
What took place is art modell publicly stated in 1995 that he would like a new stadium but was placing a moritorium on stadium talks until the end of the season because he didn't want to have it distracting from the games. In reality, it was because baltimore had hired a little weasel named John Moag who was meeting with art modell sitting in airplanes in dark corners of airports. In the midst of the season, when it became clear that Cleveland would be successfully voting on the funding to build modell his new stadium, it became necessary for him to announce his betrayal early.
And as for the expansion to Jacksonville and Tennessee, why did the NFL move there instead of crackmore???? It is because the chairman of the NFL expansion committee was none other than art modell, who saw all the offers, saw how baltimore was willing to sell their soul for a new team and his jealousy over the deal caused him to boycott expansion there because he wanted the deal for himself.
And once again, I find the actions of baltimore fans in accepting this despicable act in their name to be sickening. As a fan who had a team stolen out from under him, I can tell you with 100% certainty, that no way would I have accepted another stolen franchise. I didn't watch a single NFL game or Super Bowl for 5 years, believe me, I would rather live without it than be a hypocrite like those scumbags in baltimore.
I know its just a game and I do keep it in perspective. I hate stealer fans as well. Yeah, I know that, I know I have zero perspective on the issue. Take the thing you hate most on the planet and double it, that's how I feel about baltimore fans.
It's like say you have a car you absolutely love. In the middle of the night, someone sneaks into your garage and steals it. So your insurance buys you a faster, better looking car, but they also agree to let the car thief keep your old one and you have to watch them driving it around the neighborhood all the time. It's like that scumbag got away with a crime against you and justice was never served.

Seriously, people. I am passionate about the teams I support...but as Larry said, it's just an f'ing game! For the most part I have had nothing but positive experiences with fans from opposing teams...because most of them also realize it's just an f'ing game! Sure there are a few jerks, you find them in every element of life. When you find yourself getting this worked up over a sports team or its fans, it's time to take a big step back, get some perspective and regroup. And if this is the biggest issue in your life, you're damB lucky.
As I have had to remind myself lately, the loudest and most obnoxious fans are not necessarily representative of the entire fan base...something to think about.

Wow...I had never heard that about eagles fans...
I can't believe this guy choked you!
what a dipsh**.
Well, I am a Giants fan, but I live in Boston.
I went to a game in NJ last year, vs. the Pats no less.
Everyone assumed I was for the Pats when they asked where I
was from.... Pats fans can be really obnoxious too...
I had a NY jersey on and they were hassling me.
They come in all shapes and sizes. A fanatic is a fanatic.

Yes he has. Stewie Griffin.
