It certainly ain't what it used to be, but it's another cool piece of Americana getting bulldozed over and built up on.

I don't know about Shea on that list.....The others are classics, Shea probably won't be missed.....especially once it's replacement opens, similar to old Ebbets Field.

Maybe not the aura of it's three predecessors, but there've been some memorable games there, and other events too. (BEATLES concert in 1965 & '66).
And it's called "SHEA" stadium-it's sucessor may resemble the classic Ebbets Field, but with a name like "CITI BANK park, it'll be hard to identify it with any sense of nostalgia.
However, I suppose, in a physical sense, a baseball stadium can be replaced.
Not so with Coney Island, however.

This is a much older picture. The subway station in front has been completely remolded. the Cyclone is the rollercoaster to the left. Off to the right is the Thunderbolt. It sat vacant for years and while paperwork was being done to put it on the National Registry of Historic Places (like the Cyclone and the Wonder Wheel--center--had been), Rudy Guilliani had it torn down in an effort to make more land available for development. Also to the right is the Parachute jump. There would actually be men working on the top of that in case your parachute got stuck and you didn't fall. They'd lean over and untangle the cables. :o
