Unofficial word regarding Refunds
I just received an email from a good friend who has a huge PH brother.
His brother, due to conflicts with his kid's schedule and ex-wife, could not make the new time.
He contacted TM directly, pleaded his case, and since he was the original purchaser through TM, they issued a refund to his credit card.
I am posting this for those who truly cannot attend the new 3pm time;
give it a shot on the phone with TM.
I would assume you would have to take action NOW and not wait
until after the show.
For the rest of us, I am bringing my slicker and rowboat.

Yes, you should plead your case for refunds.
They are giving them if you push hard.
If you notice on ticketmaster, there are a lot of tickets showing up all over the Pavilion. Thats not a drop, it is cancellations

well, I do take back everything I said yesterday about them changing the show. I just called TM and told them I had to work until 3 and can't make the show and they refunded me my money -$5.00 fee for the Section 14 seats I had.......... Then I went right back to TM .com and re-bought better seats under the pavilion for the exact same price.
TM didn't have to refund anything and they did, for all the crap they take they did the right thing this time.

So by them doing the "Right Thing" it opened the door for you to take advantage of the situation......hmmmmBottleofRum wrote:well, I do take back everything I said yesterday about them changing the show. Didn't really take advantage, I still paid the same amount of money for the tickets. In fact I lost $5.00... I just got seats under the roof. no harm or loss to either side.
I was referring to TM doing the right thing for the people who couldn't make it.

but you lied...
I agree that you lost $5.00 and are still going, but you took advantage of TM's good will (I can't believe I just wrote that). (TM has good will?)
I wonder what would have happened if you were honest with them and said, hey can I upgrade my seats and I will pay the additional fees.
BTW, I hate TM and I don't know what I would have done in your situation, I may have done the same thing to upgrade my seats and stay dry.
Either way enjoy the concert.

Good for you BOR. Joking or not, people shouldn't be giving you grief. TM has stuck it to every one of us here every time we go to a show. You willingly paid a double service charge to move up to vacated seats. Ticketmaster should be thanking you (and they probably are). I bet Jimmy would too. Do these new seats make the difference between you going and not going now that you're under cover? If so, then nobody is for the worse. You spent more $$. More faces in the crowd. More fun for all. Good for you.BottleofRum wrote:well, I do take back everything I said yesterday about them changing the show. It was one of the best phone calls I ever made, I went from being out in the open air pavilion to underneath in great seats. But that wasn't the best part, it poured off and all the whole show, had I kept my original seats I would have been soaked.
I don't care if anyone gives me grief, I'd do it again.

I have some friends that about 5 years ago went to the box office at Great Woods and asked if there were any tickets up front for that nights show. The girl said not yet and actually took their cell number. She called them a few hours later and said seats right up front had come available and to get to the box office. The girl took their original tickets and only charged them the difference in ticket price, if memory serves there were 3 ticket prices that year. She said they (the BO) would resell the original seats.

I also experienced a TM "Do the right thing moment"....I had ordered tickets to a Jonny Lang show...which was postponed the day of the show and I actually got a PHONE CALL from TM telling me this.BottleofRum wrote:well, I do take back everything I said yesterday about them changing the show. How has Ticketmaster 'stuck it' to every one of us? They provided a ticket distribution service. In almost every sale they delivered the tickets on time. Perhaps you would be happier if it was a free service and the service charge was hidden in the cost of the ticket?FunkHouse9 wrote:TM has stuck it to every one of us here every time we go to a show.

My one big problem, and the way I think they screw us, is the service charges. I don't have a problem with paying them or even that they're so high. I have a problem with the service charge apparently being a random amount.Skibo wrote:How has Ticketmaster 'stuck it' to every one of us? They provided a ticket distribution service. I'm going to a show tonight and the charge varies by as much as $13.10 per ticket depending on where you sit. It's not a set percentage from what I can tell and you aren't told how much it will be until you are ready to complete the order. So you never really know how much it will be until you're ready to pay. Although you know the fee will be there, you don't know how much it will be. Then when you essentially have your seats in front of you, they tack on another $10-$25+.
I don't think the S/C should be "free" but I'd love for the advertised price to include service charges or for it to be listed on the first page along with the ticket price instead of thrown in at the last minute.
If anyone can explain the formula they use to me, I'd be real interested.
Ticketmaster took in well over half a million dollars for the two Buffett shows at Great Woods just in Convenience Charges. GW can hold 19,500 I believe there are approx 14000 seats there and the Conv Charge was 17.75 for those seats which was $248,500, not sure what the lawn fee was but I figure approx 5500 people there at probably $5.00 a ticket so add another $27,500 and they took in $276,000 each show. Now I have no idea what there actual per cost per ticket processing is, but I have a feeling is is nowhere near the $17.75 they were charging actual seats. Wish I could figure out a business to make a profit like that.
I personally feel that Ticketmaster is a monopoly, but it is a necessary evil. I can think of two way to possibly have lower fees. One would be to open the ticket sales up to competition. The venue would set the sales price and say TM and other licensed ticket sellers who would have access to all tickets equally. Then if you knew that another ticket seller was only charging $8 compared to TM's $15 you would do business with them leaving TM out in the cold. The other way I could see to get rid of TM would be for each venue to do there own ticket sales both at the box office or on line cutting out the middleman. But I am not sure if either one would be the cure as there are pros and cons to both.
