And yeah ... The Rising is a definite listen-to today, as is Jimmy's benefit concert at MSG.

Remembering Amy

Amy King was a girl I knew growing up who was on one of the planes that crashed into the towers. A friend of hers, Jackson Rohm, has carved out a music career for himself and amongst his songs is a tribute to Amy.

We will always remember you Amy.

Isaiah 40:28-40

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and strengthens the powerless.
Even youths will faint and be weary,
and the young will fall exhausted;
but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.

This is just one memory that time will not dim. I remember that day so clearly...the day our lives changed forever. And the tears flow as freely today as they did 7 years ago. :cry:

Forget? Impossible.

There are two aircraft bridges at Boston Logan, above which small American flags have been flying for close to seven years. You likely wouldn't see them from inside the passenger boarding lounges, and as a passenger you likely wouldn't notice them while taxiing past on the ramp. The gates aren't marked in any special way inside the terminal (for obvious reasons - superstitious passengers, whackos of all kinds looking for their 15 minutes of fame, etc).

But these two small flags flying over the bridges serve as poignant reminders, every working day to aircrews and others using these two gates in Boston, of that horrible day, and they remind me of that beautiful fall morning seven years ago when a number of friends and coworkers pushed back off these gates to begin a routine working day that ended in death and destruction.

It might appear selfish, considering how many lost so much on that day, but I and many of my coworkers carry deep wounds from that time that will never heal.

We won't ever forget.

I will never forget. The silence in skys that normaly has a regular thrum of aircraft, then broken only by the roar of fighters and Air Force transports.

The certain knowledge that friends were in the Pentagon that day, and the knowledge that more friends would now be going to foreign places to confront this.

No, I cannot forget. And as painful as it is to remember I don't think I ever want to forget.

I never watch any of the reports on television when they show video of the attacks. I saw it from my office window, I don't need to see it again.

I can't believe it's been 7 years. For me it still seems like only a year or two ago. As I type this I have that smell from ground zero I will never forget in my mind. I don't think that will ever go away.
One of these years I will get the photos I took posted for you guys to see. If you see what it was like it will make sure you never forget...

It hit me this morning that it was 7 years ago. I remember when the first plane hit the tower. Someone in my office said a plane hit the WTC. I thought it was a small plane or something like that. Then the second plane hit. I looked around and saw people praying at their desks.

My dad, before he retired, used to fly around the country every week for business. It just so happens, I call my mom every Tuesday. She had just gotten up. I asked her where my dad was, she said he was on his way to Miami for business. I asked her if she had turned on the TV. She said no. I told her to flip on the television. She did and dropped the phone. We could not find my dad for three hours until his plane made an emergency landing in Tampa. My mom said he was terrified (this is a man that did two tours with the Marines in Viet Nam and is pretty much not afraid of anything).

I never forget this day and always light a candle at night and raise a martini for those that perished. WE NEVER FORGET :(

Never forget. I remember where I was and what I was doing. My hubby, the travel agent, had a horrible day that day. All I wanted was to talk to my mom. God please be with the families and friends of those lost that fateful day. A day that changed us as people and as a country. :cry:
