Thanks for the decoration ideas. We are currently building a 10' X 10' Tiki Hut in our backyard. We are at the point of installing the joists and rafters for the roof today. We plan to cover it with plywood and tar paper, then finish it with Tahitian thatch that we ordered online. We've been taking pics of the construction process so we'll be able to post a history of how it was built. Once its painted, decorated and finished, we'll post the whole story.

LP Album covers tend to work a little better for displaying than CD's. Usually can get a set off Ebay cheap. Took me about a year to gather most of the LP's from local Goodwill stores for $1 a record.

You can frame them all (expensive) or buy plastic sleeves for the covers online, then tape them to the wall with strong adhesive tape. I had my album covers taped to the wall when I lived in an apt. Was 1/2 Buffett, 1/2 NC State. Now my man room is all NC State but I have my record player and collection in the room as well (just not on display).

Places like Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware used to sell 3 or 4 packs of LP frames relatively inexpensively. I believe you can buy the same LP frames off of eBay or get at a Hobby Lobby/Michaels. (Simple metal frames).

i have some framed records on my wall.
i made a plain wooden frame, put thick vinyl on it, and put another of the same wooden frame on top of it and glued it together. i then spray painted the frame matte black and attached it to a piece of particle board. laid it flat and put a record in the center and images i cut on from the album cover. then i bought this clear thick varnish at home depot and poured it over it all and left it dry for a week. came out real nice, cheaper than actually getting a good frame job and much more unique looking. actually has a weird effect since there is a thick layer of varnish on top of it opposed to it just sitting under a piece of glass...

I have a friend who did this as well and it looks awesome. He has everything I think I could have ever imagined that says Jimmy Buffett and North Carolina Tar Heels (and then some) crammed into one awesome man's lair. It is truly a spectacle.

Starting on the trim tonight... Just replaced all the Ceiling Tiles in the Rec Room area, and reinstalled the ventless gas fireplace!
