The whole airport is closed which will cause many problems
one being we have a UPS air hub here.

Lots of Prayers and PHIN Power going out to the families of the victims.
I sure hope Travis and Adam can pull through this....that wreck looks horrible.

Lots of PHIN Power heading their way.

We have a small airport in Columbia but this runway was extende by UPS
so they could land 747's during Christmas. The runway is about 1.78 miles long.
Here is loction of crash site closer.
They traveled quite a distance off the runway!

I read that a passer-by in his car saw the fireball and came up on the wreckage and Barker and the other survivor's clothes were on fire and the guy helped them get their clothes off. I guess the DJ guy has burns over 50% of his body, including his face. Barker fared a little better I think.

I've been through that airport for work and while the airport is small, I didn't think the runway was too small. Something went seriously wrong, this is not the "wet runway" and slid off the end accident.

Here are the preliminary results from the investigation.
I knew they should have taken off rather than abort. Someone with flight
knowledge may have insight that I am missing. The only other thing I can
say for sure is that the plane construction was completed on my birthday.

So they attempted to abort the takeoff because of a problem with the plane?
Look at it this way, they probably wouldn't have gotten airborne no matter what they tried..... (And maybe that's what saved Travis and DJ)
