under HIPAA it dadgum sure could be considered part of their medical records - anything identifying a patient (name, social security number, patient ID number) is protected under HIPAA
Yup....due to HIPAA....we couldn't even tell a family member, who DROVE their mother/father/aunt/uncle...etc.....to the dialysis center what time they were set to get off the dialysis machine.

Skibo.....if the appoitment book had his name or any other information about him....it most definitely is considered to be protected medical information.

I just don't understand why she didn't just use the cups that they should be providing for drinking rather than using her own mug...

But 3.80 for a drink of soda?

My opinion..... with the risk of getting my hiney torn off...

I was thinking that, what if this woman, has been taking care of her sick Dad, running him to appointments when she can, at her own expense while trying to work full time, raise three kids and also has just normal every day stressors on top of everything else??

May have had to take some time off of work without pay to take him to the Dr, because that is what we do for our sick parents..... dropped the kids off at school on the way, one of the kids puked in the minivan that is about to get repo'd and the soda issue just put her over the edge??

I have a close friend who's Dad is a Vietnam vet, and it is not a good situation at all. Very bad, very stressful and just all around a negative situation.... and I have also been in a situation myself taking care of a sick parent while trying to keep everyday life in order

as well as staying sane myself.

There were days where I thought I could go over the deep end if someone said the wrong thing to me...... because too often you hold things in until you just explode and do or say something that you normally would not do. I have driven home from the hospital screaming at the top of my lungs for 8 miles.... not something I would do every day.

Probably not something that a person could understand unless they have been there.

Not saying it is right, but more often than not anger is shot out in the wrong direction. And I guess it is not always anger that is misdirected..... it could be stress, anger, sadness, fear...... or all of the above.

I say, give the lady a break.... have her apologize, set a NEW precedence to what she will be charged for pop (since they had set that precedence in the past and without notice took it away) and move on...... life is stressful enough.
