Earlier I thought that Palin was looking at her notes a lot.
They both worked from notes at times.

palin - even though her voice is kind of monotone and a little drowning, i think she is speaking and responding better than biden.

not bad on either side. im still leaning towards mccain.
I agree, but Biden looks and sounds older than I thought he was. Is he as old as McCain? I honestly think he appears to be.
He is 66.

McCain was born in 1936, Biden was born in 1942.

Kind of hard not to. They each had lots of information they needed to convey to the undecided voter. Either way, I was pretty much able to understand what each was saying as they said it, so, either I'm getting smarter, or they're......................................................................

I REALLY hope this doesn't sound corny, because I'm as sincere as I can be when I say this (albeit, embarrassingly)-
Every time I look at Sarah Palin's youngest daughter, it sort of makes me wish I'd had kids.

well, I was impressed by both of them at times. If I had to pick a winner, i'd say it was Palin. Not necessarily due to her getting her outperforming Biden, but due to the fact that coming into this, the media was portraying her as an empty headed bimbo, but she has proven herself otherwise.

On substance: Biden
On style: Palin

She didn't tank it, but she misspoke names, facts, and "nucular" many times....in these times, I can't stand seeing anyone try to snicker and pose herself through this.

I don't see either as a clear cut winner. Both had negatives against them coming into the debate that they both overcame. Those negatives really shouldn't factor into a decision of "winner". Not just in this debate but in any debate.

It concerns me that she mentioned something about increasing the Constitutional authority given to the VP. I am trying to get the exact words she used, I think that was her only major gaffe. Other than trying to be Jill Six-pack, I for one don't want my VP or my President to be just like me, I want some polish and intellect.

Forget the "cutesy" crap.

I think she definitely beat expectations which had been lowered way too much-she has a history of being successful in debates.

But she tended to talk about what she wanted to talk about rather than what was asked, and, at times, seemed to be delivering canned lines (whatever the term is for a longer sound bite).

And if she can be this articulate and able to think on her feet, why couldn't she cite a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with (especially since one that she is on record as disagreeing was the Exxon Valdez decision which directly involved her state) and why couldn't or wouldn't she name a single newspaper she read--not even a local one?

She came off better than she has, but she ducked every question and if I have to here Maverick one more time I'll pop my ear drums.

Biden had more real answers but was somewhat fumbling at the begining but finished strong.

If she truly wants the VP to be given more constitutional authority, it wasn't a gaffe, but rather a fairly controversial idea that I would be very hesitant to support.

Or "ya" at the end of every sentence. You're running for VP, it's "YOU"

Tina Fey is some FANTASTIC eye candy, but, honestly, I haven't watched Saturday Night Live since Gilda Radner died.
It just isn't the same.

I'm not a Constitutional scholar, but I am wondering where exactly those increases can come from, it seems to me that the powers are pretty straight forward, it's Executive not Legislative.
