McCain/Palin campaign insists on a canned debate

Yep! And I definitely agree with you on the use of language-way too casual for what I want in a VP.UAHparrothead wrote:I'm not a Constitutional scholar, but I am wondering where exactly those increases can come from, it seems to me that the powers are pretty straight forward, it's Executive not Legislative.ejr wrote:If she truly wants the VP to be given more constitutional authority, it wasn't a gaffe, but rather a fairly controversial idea that I would be very hesitant to support.UAHparrothead wrote:It concerns me that she mentioned something about increasing the Constitutional authority given to the VP. I am trying to get the exact words she used, I think that was her only major gaffe. Other than trying to be Jill Six-pack, I for one don't want my VP or my President to be just like me, I want some polish and intellect.

Well, then, I'M probably the only one who deosn't give a damn how "articulate" they are, or how the hell they dress, or how much their glasses, purse, shoes, lipstick, toilet paper, beef jerky, etc. costs.
I want to know how they'll protect my country (and my wallet), and I want to hear them say we WILL drill for oil HERE.
Call me a fuddy-duddy, but I don't pay TOO MUCH attention to the superficial crap.

I think they both did fine.
I think we will hear no more of the silly "pull Palin from the ticket" arguments.
I think McCain will get more out of this than the Obama campaign. I think that a small part of his recent slide was due to Palin backlash. She proved that she is not necessarily an uninformed "hick" from Alaska and that he wasn't necessarily foolish for picking her.
However, agree with somebody who posted above about how often she used the word "maverick". NAILS ON CHALKBOARD WINCING DISCOMFORT is how I felt after the 20th time I had to hear that word!
Score to McCain campaign BUT it's gonna be a very long 32 days of painful TV ads.

I get mine colored professionally every six months, the rest of the time it's Miss Clairol and a trip to the Hair Cuttery every other month.ph4ever wrote:hell I consider myself lucky that I'm able to get my hair cut and colored once a month
Does that make me low maintenance or middle American?
Can you be a typical Middle American Woman if you live in New Jersey?
All kidding aside, I have not determined who will get my vote. I am not willing to vote party lines this year.
Can anyone out there tell me who I should vote for?
I don't want more taxes, The Government makes enough, they need to learn to operate with less, like we Americans have been doing for years. (years before GW, if I remember correctly)
I want them to bring home our boys and girls from Iraq and
I want Ben Laden Drawn and Quatered in Times Square.
I don't think we should let India answer our telephones and
I would like to give my kids a good education and still be able to retire when I reach, I don't know, 85 years old.
I'm pro-life for me, but I can't begin to make a decision for any other woman, which, I guess makes me overall pro-choice.
So, tell me BN, with these opinions in mind, who do I vote for????

I do believe it does. I used to never get mine done at the beauty parlor but using the OTC when I did chemo really messed mine up. I wish Biden would have hammered her when she kept saying Mccain wont cut and run on Iraq, he should have said "If he wont cut and run on Iraq, then why are you pulling all ads and staff out of Michigan". You cant cut and run on the war but you can cut and run on 300,000 lost jobs in the Great Lakes?

She KILLED the bridge to nowhere.ph4ever wrote:when a candidate try to make themselves into something they aren't is what concerned me. She's not middle America. It was a lie. Just like she opposed the bridge to nowhere. Some in this state know where the opposition first started and who opposed it with vigor from the very beginning.
She took on a corrupt REPUBLICAN establishment in her state.
She's NOT scared of those goons.
What's indeed a lie is when half of the American people say they want an "outsider" on the ticket, and, after Biden (who is anything BUT an outsider) is picked, they spend all day and night wetting their pants over these guys.
I think the problem most people have with Gov. Palin isn't so much that she doesn't TALK like them, but, rather, she doesn't LOOK like the typical two-legged dump trucks floating around D.C.
And I love the fact she's a MAVERICK!
As for Biden-I thought he did okay in the debate, and, to be honest, I really wish he was at the top of the ticket, and can't for the life of me understand how he did so poorly in the primaries.

No....But while you are on that topic...SMLCHNG wrote:So, I'm wondering why we're discussing her glasses, hair and outfits. Have we done this same kind of scrutiny at the suits, ties, hair, or shoes with any of the previous male candidates for President or VP??
I thought Palin looked very well dressed while Biden looked kind of frumpish in a very dull suit and an old tie. He should have been wearing a more distinguished suit and a tie that looked like it was brand new.

I've heard that your hair changes when it grows back after chemo. I'm lucky enough not to have had to go through that. I just had my 40 year old squeeze and all is clear.ph4ever wrote:I do believe it does. I used to never get mine done at the beauty parlor but using the OTC when I did chemo really messed mine up. One of these days, with my luck, the box will say Chestnut Brown and I'll end up with a fantastic shade of green.
Hopefully it will be in March and I can just tell people it's for St. Paddy's day.

Go back to Nixon-Kennedy in 1960. A lot was made about polished and professional kennedy appeared and how uncomfortable and ill at ease nixon seemed.Catch&Release wrote:No....But while you are on that topic...SMLCHNG wrote:So, I'm wondering why we're discussing her glasses, hair and outfits.
